Good morning @Sheal and @Jack McHammocklashing and all our other members:smile:

Mow I am trying to be King Solomon here so please bear with me,and this a tricky situation as the last thing I want to do is to cause any offence to anyone of oir friends:blue thumb:

When I stepped in to our good friend @Marley Farley's shoes and trust me they were big shoes to fill,I hope that at least I have partly filled them:love30:

@Marley Farley used to put this statement in the guide lines.but it was taken out (my fault) for which I apologise to you all:redface:
:star:I have now added it to our guidelines:star:

Interpret the months theme as widely & imaginatively as we can..... without editing enhancement! So good luck

This is only Woos personal oppinion and if you disagree please let me know and it will be open for discussion as you all know I love Gardeners Corner and the monthly photograpic
competition and we want as many entries as we can get;)

So on following this advice I think that we should allow any image that you our friends enter in good faith:old:

Maybe some of you will say what's the point of having a theme then,I find the theme challenging and it gets yours truly out ,when I can get out and will use the theme as part of my process when looking for a winning Photo:smile:

I like that the original statement has been reinstated. :blue thumb: That, then, leaves it to all of us as judges to decide if the contestant fulfilled the brief properly.

I was once on holiday when they had a fancy dress competition entitled 'Holiday Spirit'. As I don't try to exert myself too much in these sort of things I did very little in the way of fancy dress but won a prize (a bottle of Scotch) for ingenuity. I walked on stage dressed in my normal clothes and had taken a walking sick from the boot of my car and stuck condoms all over it. When asked how this fulfilled the brief I said that I had come as Johnny Walker!

@Jack McHammocklashing I'm sorry if I've upset you or any other members that take part, but I honestly can't see the point of having a theme when pictures that are entered are not as requested.

@wiseowl I have no issue with the way you are running the competitions, you are doing a grand job for us all. :dbgrtmb: I also don't have a problem with the re-instatement of Marley Farley's quote, but I still can't see even with wide interpretation how the current pictures entered fit into this month's theme.

I actually think that they fit the title of the theme very well :dunno: and are a good interpretation. I like it that we all have different opinions and long may we do so. :blue thumb: That's why the voting shows the wide range of thoughts on the entries for each month. :)

No deeply held views here, except to say that occasionally it may an idea (as with my camera club) to have an open theme, where entries are entered & judged for their photographic merit.

I did have problems meeting the criteria of November's comp.

Hi @David K that is some part of the monthly theme to creat a challenge,as far as I am aware the majority of members who vote do use photographic merit in their judging as well as other aspects;)

As so many participate, and who ever is the winner, will have riches beyond their dreams.

I examine every entry with a Loupe, a micrometer, and an empty Bacardi bottle, sometimes I use the loupe as the glass and the bottle as the Loupe

I hope that's an empty bottle by the time you use it as a Loupe. :heehee:

Or did you mean this type of lupe?

Yes they do fit the theme title @shiney but not the quote that Hydrogardener attached to the theme which is about Christmas lights and decorations. :)

Into week three of December already, and only THREE contributors, Bang on Theme or NOT, at least they have made some effort,

That's why we've discussed this a number of times in the past and always come to the conclusion that we can take the widest interpretation of the topic.
There's no way that I can enter the competition at the moment as there are no Christmas lights or decorations around me and we don't even have any spirits in the house.

I have the same problem but I doubt whether I'd enter anyway as I don't celebrate Christmas. Plenty of trees though, there's a large plantation just a few minutes walk from where I live and the employees there have been working overtime since the beginning of December to lift or cut them for distribution.
