Before that Kenny did commercials for guitar lesson tapes.

he would play a little tune and sing, "pickin' and grinnin', hummin' anda strummin'"......

The talk of Johnny Cash reminds me of the interview between Joe Brown and Jools Holland where Joe mentions his first gig with Johnny. There's a good bit of guitar and piano towards the end.

Back in the days when I used to mix with some of the pop stars (no minders or anyone keeping them away from us :)) it was a lot of fun being with them. One of the jobs I used to do in those days was sell records so we had a bit in common - especially a love of the music.

Joe used to sing, and play, a lot of country as well as being a rock star

All his family were in the music business. Vicki, his first wife (sadly died of cancer 25 years ago) started off singing in The Vernons Girls. This was a pop group set up by Vernons Pools and comprised of a large group of girl singers - recording at different times. They had a number of popular songs and some of them charted.

This was one of the early ones, didn't do too well, but is the song from the Hayley Mills film 'The Parent Trap'. They, at least, sang it in tune, which Hayley didn't manage!

Vicki went on to form The Breakaways who did get a number of songs in the charts.

She went on to be a solo singer

Then Sam Brown, their daughter, became a well known singer and their son is the music producer for the family.

She did well with this but not one of my favourite performances of hers :noidea:

Just heard the news that Greg Lake has died, following on from Keith Emersons death earlier this year.

              A flavour...

No doubt this will be more familiar...

Info:- The volcano on the island of Montserrat blew up in 1995 totally destroying the capital city of Plymouth. There was another eruption of flow in 2010. Two thirds of the island is still in the exclusion zone and a large proportion of the residents moved to England between 1995 and 2000. There are about 5,000 residents still left on the northern part of the island.

The flow from the original eruption was still going on when I got there in 2006. The pyroclastic flow was still running into the sea.

@fat controller that's a different and interesting version :dbgrtmb:

Whilst I was having lunch today they had the film Rock Around the Clock on TV. I remember seeing it when it first came to the UK. Although we did dance in the aisles we never heard of any place where the seats were torn out. Some of the newspapers said it happened :noidea:.

Although the film became a big hit, Bill Hayley debuted the song in the earlier film The Blackboard Jungle. :blue thumb:

He followed the film Rock Around the Clock, two years later, with Don't Knock the Rock and this song 'Rip It Up' certainly had some energetic dancing with it.
