I have just been to our local Church Carol service of carols, readings and sermon.
    A very uplifting experience.
All of the lyrics are projected on to a large screen so no need for Carol sheets .
A full brass band played ,and everyone sung their heart out.

It is a truly beautiful story.
You couldn't possibly make it up
    Could you?

      :merry christmas: @roders

How lovely to have a brass band playing at your carol service, that sounds wonderful!

I've had to ban myself from Carol Services; I always end up with streaks of tears down my face (and the family find it sooooo embarrassing  ).

I must confess I too am the emotional sort. It's the mark of a strong, empathic person.

I can share two tips for avoiding embarrassment and tear streaks.

        1. Don't wear makeup.
        2. For 48 hours prior to any event where you might get something in your eye, start faking cold symptoms. Start by whinging to anyone that will listen that you feel lethargic and run down. Gradually start throwing in a headache. Allow your throat to dry out at some point to make your voice go a bit croaky. Blow your nose a lot and make horrid snorting sounds as if sucking up snot. Then on the day, you can produce as much snot and tears as you like, and you can pass it off as the cold having reached its climax.

A friend of ours was in the choir that sang alongside a silver band. I had to walk out after the first song. I was in tears but not from the emotion of the moment. It was because the band was so loud, although it was a very big church, that I couldn't stand it. I sat in my car in the car park for the 90 minutes and could hear everything perfectly well. I wasn't the only one to walk out.

Good morning the true meaning of Christmas ,we shall be visiting very senior citizens as we do every Christmas ,and inviting a homeless person to dinner and the It will be a visit to some family graves ,just to remember them and to remind ourselves just hoe fortunate we are to still be here, then its a family dinner and when I look round at my children and Grandchildren we know its all been worth it,and then a small prayer before we eat:smile:

Nothing quite like an Owl singing so emotional:love30:

It was cute! Unfortunately, I do not have singing talent.

We don't usually celebrate Christmas but, when we're home for Christmas and New Year, we sometimes help with feeding the homeless and disadvantaged. Either through local Christmas charities or the Salvation Army. We don't do it any more if the weather is bad or there is a flu epidemic going around as we are now too susceptible to catching things.

The two main things are to serve food and chat with them as though they are friends. No preaching a change of life (I wouldn't do that anyway) and no moral judgements.
