      yes, always lots of food at holidays. Then the left overs are cartoned up and taken home. We gather quite a crowd on holidays, Christmas especially.

        We are having our Christmas dinner today rather than tomorrow so that both sons and their families can attend. Looks so empty

        but later there will be turkey with dressing, cranberry sauce with a tot of grand marnier, gravy, brussels sprouts, mashed potatoes, green beans, corn, squash, turnip and carrots on the table.

        Then followed by a yule log, a tray of homemade Christmas cookies, apple pie and ice cream and pumpkin pie with whipped cream.

        Oh and some bottles of wine. Always love these big get togethers !

          For Christmas Day, making homemade manicotti and sausages. Big salad. might bake a pecan pie, still considering, as I have another dessert already done. ITs just the two of us, hate having too much food made around if not needed. He's not a big eater.

            I'm just about to tuck in to a cold rabbit pie.

            It's an old East Anglian tradition for Christmas Day breakfast which I still follow. Like a lot of old traditions, it's gradually dying out, although a few of us old timers still keep it going. :old:

                  I have a caramelized goat cheese quiche will go in the oven soon. Just sipping coffee and eating some of my apple cranberry walnut loaf. watching the news.

                    Last night I roasted some Tandoori chicken for Mrs Shiney and non-Tandoori chicken for me. Hers was marinated in spices and yoghurt and mine was done with garlic and herbs. This was accompanied by very crispy roast potatoes (yum yum) with sprouts and cauli.

                              roasting potatoes. do you use goose fat?, duck fat? olive oil?

                                If I'm roasting for vegetarians I use olive oil. I never use goose fat or duck fat but I use the fat from whatever I'm cooking. That would be chicken, beef or lamb. I remove some of the excess fat from the meat and render it down. If necessary I add a little olive oil.
