I woke up this morning to low grey clouded skies, no sign of the Sun, very little breeze and a temperature of around 40f. The temperature has hovered around the 40f/42f all day, with the grey cloud the feature of the day. The breeze has been quartering in directions all day but has changed from the Northerly direction to a Southwest one and gusted up to around 11mph but managed to stay mostly around the 2-3mph with no rain. The clear skies that looked so promising last night for observing vanished at around 11pm and we started to get a period of light rain:dunno::gaah: Right now the temperature is 42f and the pressure reading is 1005hpa.:coffee::snorky:

Us Brits don't know what cold is! My daughter's work in Canada is taking her away for a few days and the place she's heading for is currently at -33C. She'll be working outside too.

Meanwhile back here in the gloomy north today wasn't much improvement on the last few days. Slightly brighter but still cloudy with a stiff breeze and the 'see-saw' temperature was up again at 8C/46F.

It's all a matter of perspective and what you're used to. :noidea: :) This time last year I was in Calcutta, the temperature was in the mid to upper seventies (their winter) and people were wearing scarves and jumpers :hate-shocked:

It's been another cloud filled skies day for most of today today with no breeze and a steady temperature of 40f. But the skies had cleared completely by 5pm and now the temperature has dropped to 35f and will continue to drop well below freezing tonight:hate-shocked:. There's no breeze, the pressure reading is 1010hpa, Venus is bright in the skies in the West, the Moon is quarter full, the Stars are clear and shining.........so the Observatory is powered up and my cold weather Jacket is waiting on the hook:hapfeet::hapydancsmil::snorky:

You could be right there @shiney, even at 5C/41F for example, it feels much warmer here than 300 miles further south on the Isle of Man, possibly because it has a damp atmosphere there that chills to the bone. My daughter isn't used to those extreme temperatures where she lives and usually experiences at worst around -12C/10F.

Slightly brighter today with the sun putting in a weak appearance but the temperature has dropped again to 4C/39F.

It was cold enough in the night to wake me up :th scifD36:
Been pretty mild today though and the sun put in an appearance, which I was grateful for. Would have been even more grateful if the sun actually touched the ground in my back garden, but, I suppose we can't have *everything* :heehee:

@shiney , just out of curiosity, what exactly is the store on the left hand side of the picture flogging?
I take it that it is some kind of outlet.
Kind of reminds me of a place in Sheerness:biggrin:

Because 1) it would be greedy and 2) there would be nothing left to look forward to ;)
