I have a feeling that the match and more points are getting proportionally less compaired to the money spent...it is taking me a longtime to see the usual £5 off voucher!

Saw a loads of stuff in a freezer at Morrisons marked 'reduced to clear this morning, when I turned some items over found everything was reduced to only 9p, with 2017 use by dates so they appear to be clearing out discontinued lines and might be worth checking when next in your local store.

Got numerous packs of Birds Eye petit pois, boxed fish and 24 packs of sausages (for Dog). Also had around 100 packs of sausage rolls @ 9p which I'm sure Dog would have loved (we're vegetarians) but I think he'd need even more exercise than his 7 miles walking and 1 mile running each day.

Bought so many 2.5Kg bags of spuds, cabbages (us + hens), parsnips, carrots (us + Dog), etc. all for 9p each at Morrisons yesterday that I had to go to Poundland and buy two hessian 'Santa sacks' @ 50p each (half price) so I could get most of it into our shed. Should store for ages in sacks rather than plastic bags.

I suspect that some supermarkets have been caught out by lots of shoppers going to Aldi/Lidl/Asda before Xmas and getting their veg for 19p/20p per bag.

Even better than 9 or 10p, we've been stocking up on bottles of sparking Ocean Spray Cranberry and Cran & Rasp, 75p each or 2 bottles for £1, buying 2 bottles with each shop and using 2 x 50p off any Ocean Spray products from the Dec Tesco mag = FREE (my favourite price). Now got a vast stash and they have UBDs up to end of May.

Also been buying loads (probably well over 100 now) of a breakfast product using multiple vouchers (pdf file) that are supposed to get it just free, but if bought in the right multiples and in a shop of 10 items (which always includes 1 of each sparkling OS flavour) we get the products for free and a total of £4.95 'overage' & Brand Guarantee off the rest of our shopping.

Both the above expire 31/12/16, so we're then living on what's in our stockpiles, freezers and all the sacks of veg in our shed together with Tesco's final hour 90% off reductions will keep us going until something else turns up. Got enough 75% off torn sacks of dog food to keep him fed for another 8 months.

Nearly forgot about the Edam 'try me free' promotion. Been buying whole Edam cheeses up to £15 each and uploading receipts to get refund paid direct into bank account, so it helps that we all have at least 2 bank accounts each. This somewhat makes up for the lack Tesco money off cheese vouchers in their Xmas mag this year which have previously worked on the price before multi-saves (and even on pastry!), 2 'overlapping' vouchers working together and there were manufacturer's vouchers that could also be used. Think it got Cheddar down to about £1.20/Kg, but sadly no more, but at least Mrs Scrungee and my daughter both got Tesco cheese trials with £6's worth of free cheese each. And of course we bought all these cheeses using our books of £3 off £20 shop vouchers together with the 'breakfast products' that got another £5 off, so maybe we haven't done too bad this year. Oh, I nearly forgot the 12 packs of cheap cheese we bought from Lidl using the 40% off cheese vouchers in their Xmas mag, think it was just over £2/Kg, some of which is earmarked for our daughter to take back to uni in a couple of weeks.

EDIT: Also got a load of 150g Kettle Chips reduced from 99p to 10p as only 1 week before BBD, plus some other fancy flavour ones reduced from £2 to 5p which was handy as that was some of the stuff we were supposed to be taking to a family buffet.

Hit the jackpot this afternoon at Tesco!

              Punnets of Grapes 2p
Twin packs of Little Gems 1p
              Punnets Strawberries 2p
              Punnets Blueberries 2p
              Bags of Carrots 1p
Packs of Cherry Tomatoes on the vine 1p
              Punnets of Mushrooms 1p
Twin packs of Romaine Lettuce 1p
              4Kg Bags of Spuds 3p
Twin packs of Pak Choi 1p
              Bags of Apples 1p
Twin packs of stuffed Peppers 2p
              Bags of prepared salad 1p
              Mangoes 1p
              Etc.

And we only went out to buy a bag of chips!

Mainly caused by about to expire 'display until' dates, and the mentality of shoppers who'll pay full price for stuff that expires tomorrow, but wont touch that expiring today. Even worse are those who'll chuck stuff away when it reaches that date! Everything we bought will get used, even if it means pulling the first shoots off the spuds and later on turning into croquettes, potato scones, etc., some of which will be frozen.

My freezer is bursting with carrots, parsnips, onions and sprouts, will be using them for soups and stews throughout the next 2 allegedly winter months.
I still have some potatoes in the shed from the 12 kilo sack I bought for 67p, and have given some to 3 people.

I wonder if that is the same worst winter for 100 years that the Daily Wail keeps going on about:snorky:

What time do they reduce in your Tesco Scrungee? They never reduce much more than 25% if its on the day and then we're lucky to get our produce down to 75% by 7pm in our store! Same goes for our Asda. Counter stuff goes down to 5p/10p and thats just before closing... again, if we're lucky.

One hour before closing time everything goes down to 90% off, including loads of stuff that has always been 'round the back' and has never been to any of the reduction areas. We have 2 Tescos with staggered hours, so one brings of trollies laden with 90% off stuff at 3pm, then we drive 1 mile to the other where they bring it out at 4pm, and at the 2nd one they reduce all bakery products (and flowers) to 99% off.

The non-fruit/veg/meat/fish/dairy/etc.reductions like dented tins, torn sacks of dog food, damaged trays of cider/beer, end of lines, etc. get put out at the 2nd store first so we do those on the way in and they're generally 75% off, at the next store they get put out just before the perishble stuff and lots is reduced to 90% off.

Don't forget that multisaves still work on reduced stuff, so if buy 2 get 1 free the 3rd will be free. Fish and meat 2 for £5, 3 for £10 offer items will give the full price reduction at the till and if 90% off will be completely free + get money off your shopping.

We sometimes get home with a car full of all sorts of stuff, and have a meal of something like Tesco Finest Lobster salad with all sorts of extras, or maybe King Prawn curry, then work out a menu plan for the next few days, decide what'll need cooking the following morning and freeze as much as posible, splitting £2+ loaves reduced to 2p into 3 to avoid wastage.

By doing that we eat very well and save enough money to do all sorts of things. Our daughter has all sorts of frozen treats waiting for her return during uni holidays and boxes of tins and packets to take back with her. Dog does very well as we always have a freezer drawer full of 90% Chicken fillet, Beef, etc., plus he still gets tomatoes and strawberries in winter after our own have finished.

Today Mrs Scrungee announced our December housekeeping expenditure was about £86, which included about 16Kg of cheese that we still have in our fridge/freezers, together with sacks of other veg and a fridge stuffed to bursting.

She'd forgotten to include a few items, such as the 20 cans of fruit cider reduced to 75% off bought especially for our daughter's return for Xmas, together with my expenditure on homebrew ingredients.

But I'm still happy with a sub £100 December spend that also includes all our New Year food, plus adding loads of stuff to our stockpile.
