Thermal socks

Probably more like Home Bargains than Wilko. Wilko differs in that they sell stuff worth buying.

 

You must have a different one to us. Ours sells rubbish.

 

I would have thought all the same standard, some branded items at a lesser price than mainstream shops, some imported cheap stuff, depends what you want and how long you want it to last, £ shops are stuffed with rubbish, but you find the odd gem.

 

If ours sells decent stuff, they must hide it well, because I've never found it.

 

I've had many a good look round. I see Dutch gammon and bacon in the fridge, shelves full of cheap and nasty toys (I know they're nasty because our kids have had some, some I bought before learning that they're rubbish, and some that relatives have bought for birthdays and Christmas, all of which either fail after a few days, or some never worked at all). I see garden tools that look like they'll snap or bend on first use. Basic homeware stuff is sometimes ok. It's hard for a hand towel to go wrong for example.

To be fair though, I did buy my electric steam cooker from there, and I'm very happy with that, but I think that's the exception rather than the rule.

 

Some people can only afford cheap toys for their children, they have a price range, I have bought several "Fisher price" toys from there for my grandson.

 

I only buy cheap toys for mine. But what is cheap? If something costs a fiver and something similar costs a tenner, then the fiver one sounds cheaper. But if the fiver one is a dud, then it's a fiver that you might as well have poked down the nearest drain cover, in which case it is not cheap at all.

 

When ever I use B and M I find that lots of items are brand names and the quality of most of the stuff is pretty good , all at excellent prices . Home Bargains has a good selction of items at good prices as well hmm we have new smilies

 

Wallpaper, Curtains, Furniture, Toys, Vacuum Cleaners, TVs - B&M The Didcot one has an attached 'garden centre'.



They sell many branded products at a fraction of the prices DIY store & shops charge, plus they regularly reduced the price of different items down to only 10p - look out for red 10p labels. I once found chopped tomatoes @ 10p + they were buy 2 get 1 free. They often have 'end of lines' at huge discounts. Sometimes I find nothing worth getting, other times I fill a trolley.

They clear out their gardening stuff in August (to make way for Halloween stock) and if you get there on the right day can get what's left with up to 90% off.

+ QD Stores - Quality Products at Discount Prices + Farmfoods for food + GO Outdoors | Outdoor Clothing | Walking Boots | Winter Jackets for outdoor stuff etc. The difference in prices between stores can be incredible, looking online for a Rolson 'Stanley' knife blade scraper this morning I found them for less than £2 and for over £12.

Bought some more of those socks for Mrs Scrungee yesterday.
