We will be gone by then, we land in the Keys on May 3, and stay only three days this year, party to get to on the 3rd, and 4th, and the big costume party on the beach on the 5th. Then we leave for St. Martins for a week.

2 years ago, friend and I did disney, due to the harry potter world, it has now expanded, thinking of going again in February, will use one of our timeshare weeks. the resort will be a 5 min drive from there, so no big deal. have a cousin who wants to meet up with me. BTW the Butterbeer at harry potters world is so good. Guess you'll do all the attractions when your there. Have fun.

We've always taken a couple of big electric chiller boxes [1] full of frozen free Dr Oekter Restaurante pizzas, bargain garlic bread, reduced salmon fillets, cheap boxes of fish, etc. and made the most of the oven including oven chips, making roastie spuds, etc. to an extent we wouldn't dream of at home. In the autumn we take loads of our home grown stuff.

When we've been given 'free' entertainment passes they've only been used so our daughter could swim in their indoor pools, otherwise we're out and about outside the sites until it's dark and take plenty of stuff to keep up entertained, onsite wifi now helps, but we always take a mifi and antenna.

We didn't bother with cheap hols before our daughter started school and the cost of holiday cottages rocketed, but then started booking via Sun Hols using different names and a few addresses to get loads of them every year.

Now I'm (early) retired we can (again) holiday whenever we want, but Sun Hols can still work out cheaper than campsite charges and all the potential hassle that involves, but I now tend to restrict bookings to coincide with specific events, and go camping at short notice other times

[1] With frozen blocks on top and powered by two mains to 12v adaptors that we also use when camping.

I love those Dr Oetker pizzas but won't be taking frozen stuff as we haven't got a chiller. Been scoping it out this morning and there's a Morrisons and Lidl near by. The entertainment passes don't include the indoor swimming pool, sadly. So thats £3 pp per 1 and half hr session, 50p extra for all day after session has expired and seeing as we're going in April we'll prob make good use of it. Outdoor pool is free but more than likely too cold.

When we went to Duinrell, Holland with Eurocamp I took a nearly half a suitcase of pasta and sauce (a big favourite with us, 2 for £1 in farmfoods) and super noodles, also our own towels and sleeping bags to save on linen hire

@redstar we'll be doing Harry Potter world for definite, my daughter loves the books and she was only 4 last time so can't remember much. I want to see how its expanded too, wasn't too fussed on the butter beer myself but the basket food was great :)

The plan as it stands is to visit Switzerland, something I've wanted to do for years. I've had a look at the options, and going by coach seems to suit us best. August should be about right, and by coincidence, it'll be 50 years since I went with the school. As usual, we'll be visiting Newton Abbot a few times. I quite fancy a cruise to The Canaries in November just for some late sun, but will have to see how the finances go.

Barrilla pasta and pasta sauces were free using (now defunct) MyMail accounts - we created 100's of them and acquired about 3 year's supply of all sorts of pasta and all sorts of sauces for zero cost.

one thing at Harry Potters which disappointed me was the Chocolate Frog, it tasted yuck, like not even as good as a Hersey bar or Russell Stover chocolate. If I had known I would have not broke the one frog leg off, but just kept it in the back of a cupboard, or not bought it. @Linz

The could have also designed the ladies room to match the bathroom in the movie. But it did have the speaker voice of the ghost.

Hopefull I can get there in February, before school lets out, and crowds are less, also not as hot.

@Freddy, we went to Interlaken two years ago (you may remember) in August in the middle of a heatwave but that was a one off. We used Inghams the lake and mountain specialist company and going with them this year to Lake Garda.
The Bernese Oberland is a great place to visit and we plan to go again one day. We flew to Geneva and then train (double decker) to Interlaken. if you do go you will have a great time.

IMG_0214.JPG @Scrungee I should be getting an email next month with the prices but as I said to Mr Kandy if it is an expensive trip then we won't be going, but would like to see it in the station so to speak.:snorky: The cost to go from London to York one way was £450 each and I can think of better ways to spend £900:snorky:

We don't mind spending out on campsite fees as we don't smoke, drink, play the lottery, eat out every week, very rarely have takeaways, play bingo, buy designer clothes etc,so apart from being boring we enjoy our holidays whatever the cost:hapydancsmil:

                            Hiya Harry :blue thumb:
We used to tour, years ago, but we decided that for now, we would keep it sited somewhere fairly central in Devon. They store it for us, and when we want to visit, it's just a phone call to get it put on a pitch. It also means I don't have to have a large towing car.
Cider bar? I might like that  (:Wino:)

Yes, I do remember. The reason the coach option appeals is because of the included excursions, Interlaken and Grindwald, and one or two others. I can also take the rack and pinion train up Mount Pilatus which overlooks Lucern, where the holiday is based. The significance here is that's where I stayed all those years ago, and yes, I went up Mount Pilatus too. I realise the weather might be a factor, so :fingers crossed:
