Other hobbies

Gardening is just one of my interests. Others are pottery making, genealogy, and drawing.
I haven't done any pottery for a few years due to various reasons but I hope to get it up and running again this spring.
Here is a sketch of a little mouse I did last week ...



And here's a sketch of an old church on top of one of the hills near here ...



I only like using graphite pencils but I do use watercolour pencils sometimes.

There's a thread on here somewhere that I started with my drawings of cathedrals on it. I can't find it using my phone but I'll keep trying and give it a boost for you to have a look.

Not sure why you would need to gain confidence? It's obvious to me that you have a relatively rare talent. The best I can manage is 'stick men'

It's to do with my background and how I was brought up, and even though I am now in my late 60s it is difficult to shrug all that off. It's always in the back of my mind.

Stick men are good. LS Lowry painted them

Lovely drawings, Michael, you have a very good knowledge of how to blend the pencil through... have you tried using the "watercolour" blendable pencils, blending them dry? (Q-tip works well for this).

I can relate to needing the positive comments as affirmation of your skills. Even when I told my mum that I was working on a study, a commission piece, so I could post it to my "client", who had already paid me for the commission .... she only wanted to talk about how talented my brother was at drawing....

Believe it, breathe in that belief.
