Did that, and did the bird watch early today.

Filled in everything on line and it came back with an Oops! report asking me to do it again. It took a long time to fill everything in, I'm peed off with it and I can't be bothered to do it again - and have told them so.

Plan on sorting out the abandonned mess of her back garden. Need to change it to low maintenance as it's just awful.

All I seem to do when I visit is weeding the garden

Thanks for the heads up, I've never done it before but maybe everyone is rushing to do it first thing in the morning? Take down what you see and send the info over at a later time when the birds have gone to bed?

That is lush @Snorky85 , the one I want! You have a lucky mam :)

edit: will be filling bird feeders up too and doing the bird watch :)

:scratch:I gave up doing the garden birdwatch count because the hour I would pick all the birds decided to clear off and only came back after the hour was up and to be honest my days are precious enough without spending it standing by the kitchen sink for an hour on the off chance the birds are going to appear and why should I do the RSPB's job for them as they are getting paid enough out of the subscriptions we have paid every years for the last 37 years so let them count the garden birds:snorky:

Yesterday while washing up I counted seven male blackbirds in my garden al together, this morning there was just four so there are three missing from the total in just twenty four hours, whereas tomorrow morning we could be back to seven or even eight.

A few years ago the RSPB was estimating that 6,000,000 wild garden birds are taken by people's cats each year, well how do they know that,do they have teams sitting in people's houses up and down the country every day counting the demise of some poor Robin to the local cat population,I think not...:snorky:

PS,And another thing if those people that are counting the birds in their gardens for an hour how do they know that they are not counting the same birds that are going round and round the different gardens looking for food,so there might not be three sparrows in a garden it could be the same one flying into next doors garden in that hour and then coming back to my garden etc,or am I missing something in this big bird count:scratch:

Hi @martin-f Yes, you would need to overnight, as some of our members do. :dbgrtmb: Unless you drive quite slowly on good roads you would do it in a lot less than 3 hours :blue thumb:. We're about 150 miles away mainly on the A1 and M11. Canterbury is a good hour and a quarter past us but we're only just over 30 minutes from Cambridge if you like old and interesting towns.

To give you an idea of timing, I make it regularly to Doncaster in 2 hours 15 minutes - but I drive fast. :heehee:

@ARMANDII is more likely to give you an idea on timing as he's not too far from you. :)

RSPB have emailed me apologising and saying that my results may have got through and they're checking on it. apparently, even if they haven't they should be able to send me my survey for me to resubmit. :)

Thank you Shiney, 2 hours 15 minutes is not bad, I can get on the A1 in 15 minuets from home, I am not one for hanging around myself :blue thumb:, we do like historic towns, I metal detect at Blyth you will pass it on the A1 just before Doncaster, will see nearer the time if wife can get time off, she works weekends.

It's roughly 200 miles from me, using the M6 and A14, and a trip of 3 hours 10 minutes for me and allowing for traffic. It would be good to see you there, Martin!!:love30::thumbsup::snorky:
