I couldn't find one. Would it be possible at some stage for GC to accept Bitcoin? I see that there are multiple options to donate via various bank cards and paypal as usual, but no BTC choice. Donations can arrive within minutes and without any third party theft (bankers) along the way. I don't like to use any of the cards on offer and they all give out way too much information when it's just not necessary. I would love to see a Bitcoin donation button. Thanks.

Hi Flora, I think that would be highly unlikely.
Gardeners Corner is a non profit making Forum run by unpaid volunteers who do it just for love of GC, gardening, and the great members of the GC Gang. We do welcome donations as there is obviously a financial cost to the running of the site. Some members donate annually, some will make ad hoc donations, but there is no pressure to donate whatsoever. But those that are made are greatly and sincerely appreciated.:love30::snorky:

@ARMANDII Hi, and I understand the non profit making Forum run by unpaid volunteers part but if there's already four or five donation options that are all information and fee invasive, then whats another option that's not? It should only take 15 or so minutes to implement and would be at least worth looking at. Non profits and charities are not charged any fee's :hapydancsmil:

Not hassling, and I have no affiliation what so ever with this link Bitcoin Payment Buttons - CoinGate
nor any BTC business, but just in case GC ever wants an easier and cheaper donation option, then that's a good place to start. Cheers!

I understand your point, Flora. But Bitcoin is a digital currency not all that well used or recognised in this country. As we use donations entirely to help pay for the running of the Forum Bitcoin would be impractical as our Host Server doesn't recognise it.:dunno::snorky:
However, I will put the case to the Webmaster and the rest of the GC Admin to see if Bitcoin donations could be of use to Gardeners Corner......and I will come back to you as soon as I can with an answer.:coffee::snork:

The problem for GC, as I see it, is that Webmaster would own the bitcoin payment but can only use it to buy something, or service, where they will take bitcoin payment. This might work out OK with the software company that is used by GC - if they take bitcoin. Very few individuals and companies in the UK are involved with bitcoin. :heehee:

It's easy enough for a UK citizen to avoid paying through the donation system here on GC by sending a personal cheque to the Webmaster but I don't know about an Australian one. :noidea:

Had another look and the testimonials seem to come from Vilnius Lithuania?
                      But in perfect English?

I think I'll stick with Monopoly money or the bank of toy town.

Bitcoins! Whenever you've amassed a few of them - like £4M worth - then make sure you keep you hard drive safe ....

James Howells searches for hard drive with £4m-worth of bitcoins stored - BBC News

James never found his hard drive

Did you know, nobody officially knows who invented bitcoins. Several laid claim to it. A few months ago one bloke said he was prepared to prove it was him, by showing off some very early block chains or somet. But he bottled it at the last minute so still nobody has proven conclusively that they are the creator.

All of that is irrelevant to this thread. I just thought it might be interesting.
