I understood it to be a temporary ban, your making it sound pretty much for the rest of their lives @clueless1

@ARMANDII As for division within countries, we aint seen the full protests over Brexit yet over here, things have changed and if things dont go your way go out and protest.
I think its all about facebook, and the like, Twitter etc. whipping up storms of protest, its all got out of hand.

If he can be so unreasonable for a set period of 90 days, how can he be trusted to put it all back to normal after 90 days? What could he hope to achieve? A 90 day reprieve on some perceived threat? Then what? Let people in who he has already made clear he sees as a threat to national security?

And even if it is for 90 days, that's enough to massively disrupt someone's life. If you were an employer, could you cope with losing any employee for a whole 3 months? Would you wait for them, or would you replace them in order to fulfil your contracts with your clients? I suspect these are just a few questions that nobody thought to ask.

Well I thought he said something along the lines of 90 days in order to get some proper kind of vetting sorted out, might be wrong.

Here, we at last have a "politician"(I know he is not one), actually putting into action the things he was voted in for.
          Strikes me as very unusual.

When language like 'extreme vetting' is being thrown around, and in the meantime even US residents are being locked out, how can there be any confidence that in 3 months, and sensible and fair system will be implemented?

Imagine if you were the target of some similar system. Would you be able to take comfort in the belief that it's only for 3 months, and your boss will just pay you for the time you're locked out, because it's not really your fault, and in 90 days your life will go back to normal and nobody will be recording any extra data about you than they would anybody else?

The latest from the Trump aides is that it's almost certain that several of the listed countries will be banned well beyond the 90 days.:dunno::snorky:

There you go guessing again, who's to say he will still be President in 90 days?

I would like to explore what vetting other countries do? Like Scotland, Ireland, Spain, etc.
As far as extreme vetting, ---and what does that mean? Why are people afraid of that? I am not, I am glad there will be some standards placed prior to getting the green card. After all it is special to become an American citizen, if not why are they pounding on our door?

And let me remind you Obama loved to use the "blame game" all he could for the 8 years, blaming prior presidents for "whatever". If Trumps people bow some to Obama setting up certain things prior to him leaving, oh well.

Hmm, when you think about it, Redstar, some of your previous Presidents like the Bushes, Clinton, Tricky Dicky Nixon, Lyndon B Johnson, arguably, I think he had grounds to.
He inherited a collapsed economy, a war not of his making, recognised that climate change was real and looked for other energy alternative to fossil fuels. Your economy now is the strongest it ever has been.......and, like it or not, Obama made that happen:dunno:.
Trump's stance is that he does not accept that the overwhelming scientific truth that climate change is real, even stating that he thought it was dreamed up by and for the Chinese to make US products uneconomical. So to suit Business he will encourage coal burning, etc, which will only make things worse. Historically, in your country, and mine, the rich get richer and the poor get poorer, so the money doesn't trickle down to the needy even when the economies are strong. Probably you think/hope that will change because of Trump but, I sincerely hope I'm wrong, I think Trump and his people will leave richer having set up policies to the advantage of Business and not the working people............and I really do hope I'm wrong........the next four years will tell.:dunno::coffee:

We used to have border control in Shineyland when Oscar was alive. Nobody got past our borders without being checked out by Oscar. His basic principle was "two legs good, four legs bad" but even two legs had to be thoroughly checked.

Who knows? That's the problem. Nobody knows.

But coming from a man that would lock out people who have been living and working there for years, and the same manner approving torture as an interrogation tool for terrorism SUSPECTS when even his own selected head of the CIA says it's unnecessary and counterproductive, who knows what 'extreme vetting' might entail?

Might it entail, for example, keeping a register of people of a certain religion? Perhaps it will involve checking the colour of their eyes, or the etymology of their family name? Who knows.

Sorry. I don't understand what you're getting at there.

I don't get my news from Fox, which means there's usually at least an element of truth to it.
