P.S. If you buy her that, you may find the mileage she does will go from 2,000 a year to 20,000. :) :)

Thanks @kindredspirit but I'm not sure she would like it. She had a ride in a DB9 and said she preferred it from the outside :snork:

Arrange a test drive for her and you'll get TWO eggs for breakfast. :) No harm in having a test drive. :)
          I've never driven a Maserati or an Aston. :( :( :(

This is MrsH by the Maserati MC12 , we had for touring the French Riviera in 2007.:blue thumb:

No I am day dreaming again , ours was a Vauxhall hire car parked round the corner in Monaco .:snork: This was by the harbour. It is the place for car spotting though . If I could get into the Maserati , not too sure I could get out of it these days.

@Sheal sorry I didn't know about the boot space on the Jukes as I was just plucking car names out of the air that might be suitable for Mrs Shiney to drive. At least now if I need to change my Ka I will know what not to buy as my little workhorse has so much stuff put in the back of it with the seats down,I haven't found anything to beat it in the small car range:smile:

When we took our Kia Sorrento to have its MOT done before Xmas we got talking to the service people about cars and I mentioned the Duster (I like them) and was told that there are a lot of unhappy customers out there that have had problems with bits going wrong with the Dusters but when they have taken the cars to the garages to get the faults sorted have been told that it is very difficult to actually get the parts for them, but how much of this is true we are not to sure:th scifD36: We are pleased with ours and it pulls our caravan very well, but I don't think Mrs Shiney will need hers for that:snorky:

@kindredspirit We had one of those cars overtake us last year,or did we hold it up? And I managed to get a photo of the trident?badge on the front grill and said to Mr Kandy it was a smart looking car but we had no idea as to what it actually was. Thanks for that.(Will now go and Google prices me thinks:snorky:)

@shiney you will have to also explain to the boss that some new cars these days have a cut out on them so when the car stops at traffic lights etc,the car switches off and then automatically restarts when you put your foot on the gas. Also a lot of new cars have lots of controls on the steering wheel which I personally don't like as all I want my car for is getting from A-B like Mrs Shiney and don't need lots of gadgets to fiddle with.A simple life is all I want:snorky:

There's oodles of room in the Quattroporte, though. (Roll your "R"s when you say "Quatrrrroporrrrte")

Go on, Buy Mrs Shiney a Quattroporte. You know you want to. :) :)

I'd consider a Dacia Estate :blue thumb:.

Based on tested (read 'old') Renault technology - cheap as chips - and has loads of 'toys' as additional pay for extras.

That is if you don't really care what other drivers think about the badge on the bonnet of your car. I certainly don't.

Random but expensive electrical faults? Random misreadings of instruments?

I was once tempted to consider a dacia, until I realised they are actually the budget brand of Renault. So basically, take a brand noted for its persistent annoying electrical problems, then make it even cheaper.

That said, Renault built the engine in my mitsubishi carisma, which is basically the same car as the volvo s40 of the same period. It does ok, and as far as I know it's only on its second turbo, for now, though it's whistling and hesitating again so I suspect it will be either turbo number 3 or the scrappy soon.

@clueless1 we had Turbo problems when we had our X Trail (Nissan) from new and we ended up having to have three new turbos all under Warranty:sad: We were beginning to hate the car and wish we hadn't bought it but talking to someone about the problem Mr Kandy was told that if we went anywhere in the car and the engine was hot, then when it was time to park up then instead of turning the engine straight off to let the car idle for a minute or so to give the car engine time to cool down a little bit before turning off the engine. This we started doing and from then on never had a problem with the turbo and it still had the third one in it eight years later when we got rid of the car:biggrin:

Or..try one of the prestige manfacturers... BMW and Merc...who seem to be at the bottom of the list for reliability - the more complex the plumbing the easier it is to block up so to speak.

I heard all the stories about French cars (Pug 307 in this case) reliability, but got one anyway. It's been as reliable as any of the other cars I've owned. That is, it's gone faulty, but so has the sparkly Audi that the bloke owns next door.

If it's length of warranty that's important then Kia might be worth having a look at?

Always a good idea to let a turbo car idle for 1 or two minutes, this prevents the heat in the turbine housing soaking into the shaft bearings - and frying the oil . I worked for Garrett Turbo , this is a photo on the test bed . Don't worry they don't glow this hot in normal use !
