Hi, I've bought a greenhouse (an elite craftsman 8 x 6) it's being delivered on Tuesday It being sited on a breeze block foundation for greater height. I really don't know if I should concrete the internal of the greenhouse and grow from grow bags and pots or if I should plant directly into the soil. Any advice would be most welcome

      Welcome to Gardeners Corner :sign0016:

Think most of us grow direct from the soil with a few slabs down the middle :)

          No worries :)

Always best to build up the soil's fertility, so anything organic dug in helps. Good handful of Blood, Fish and Bonemeal helps too.

Plants benefit from a liquid feed as the year goes on, you can either make your own or use off the shelf feeds :)

I was considering concrete but I think I'm going to go with soil. Thanks Zigs

Using the soil is OK, but it depends a lot on what you want to grow.
Toms, which a lot of people tend to start out growing, very quickly come up against soil disease problems after three years or so.
If you are going to vary the crop you can get away with it, but if not, I'd be inclined to go with the soil idea for a few years with the idea that some time in the future you will need to perhaps go over to container growing.

Yes I'd like to start with tomatoes and cucumbers and chilli. Would I need to dig out the soil and replace every couple of years?

Well I kind of think that is the approach you might need to think about.

You might change your mind later once you've seen how fast weeds can develop in the lovely warm, humid environment of a greenhouse.

Hi @Spacemunkey . It is very important to do crop rotation in a soil-greenhouse. Basically you divide the planting area into 4 (or more) parts and grow crops from different families in them. Rotate the crops next year.

You should be able to find more information by searching 'crop rotation in greenhouse' or something similar.
