@wiseowl Do you remember the sea freezing over at Herne Bay in the winter of '62/'63?

Travelling on the roads was a bit difficult too but the AA were always there to help :snorky:

The top temperature never got above 36f today the slight breeze made the wind chill feel like 32f:hate-shocked:. So, it's been cold, dull, grey, with cloud covered skies, no rain, and only a slight breeze........so not really a nice day:dunno: At the moment the temperature is 34f, with a pressure reading of 1008hpa...........and a few more days of it to come:wallbanging::gaah::coffee::snorky:

'Dear Neighbour Mr Grounds.. :hate-shocked: PLEASE DON'T. There is a very delicate ecosystem around you that includes flora, fauna and some late night shift worker people..:psnp: There was a perfectly good invention engineered some time ago now called a shovel. A beautifully crafted piece of metal so simple, so effective against snow and so gloriously QUIET. Please, in honor of that which needs its sleep around you. Deepest respect and thanks in advance :wub2: your very friendly but tinnitus filled already shift working and trying to sleep neighbor, FloraPie :paladin:

I remember my dad taking me to Southend where it had also frozen.

                Weather.....

No frozen sea here today but frosty until around noon. Chilly but sunny at 4C/39F.

During that Winter, I'd never even heard of Herne Bay. I do have two memories though. The first was sliding on the ice and snow in the school playground on the last day of term before the Easter break.

The second was watching "No Hiding Place" (remember that?) during the summer and wondering why they still had snow in London in July... :dunno::whistle: About 15 years later, I met one of the actors from the series (Johnny Briggs) at a gig we were playing. How he laughed when I told him this! :snork:

Well it doesn't look quite as severe as my avatar but plenty of the dreaded white stuff fell early this am:mute:. Just in from trudgeing out with hay nets for the "pony". Preying that this doesn't last/is only local as I have to drive a large van down to Birmingham on Sunday and haven't driven something as big as this for a while as sold the lorry about 5 years ago. Wall to wall blue skies so hopefully the snow will disappear by then:fingers crossed:.

Oh yes I remember it and thought it was very good viewing at the time.:old: Come to think of it we here in the UK must be due a new police series as not had 1 for a while have we? I liked Z Cars as a child and was a fan of The Bill more recently.

We have not even come to the last episodes of "Foyles War" "A Touch of Frost" and "Morse" here yet. So they have plenty time to record a new one.:)

Maybe you'll get "Brokenwood" there. I only watch that for the car! :snork:

I was very careful not to harm the flora and fauna. In fact the reality is the fauna appreciated my efforts, as they could forage for food easier...:)

Of course, this being a farming community, 05:30 is late. The only people still in bed at that time are sick..:snork:
