    A bit of googling gives the official reason as "distortion of melody, harmony and rhythm.":dunno:

    At one time or another, the BBC has banned virtually everybody that is or was anybody in popular music. Including Cliff Richard, The Beverley Sisters and a serial offender known as George Formby!

      Always amazed me that the BBC never banned "Start me up" by The Stones :scratch:

      None of them can have listened to the last line :whistle:

            I can't see anything getting banned these days.

            In my lifetime, in fact less than that, probably just the last 25 years, maybe not even that, it's gone from absolutely nothing with any hints of bad language or derogatory or suggestive language, to nasty 'gangsta rap' being acceptable, despite 'singing' about shooting people, drugs, and 'bitches and hos'.
