Got my steam iron work finished. It is hard to hear the television while using it so I have saved playjng my new Bless Me Father dvd collection until tomorrow.

Not sure if we're stepping out to the pub today as it has not stopped snowing since this morning. Mind though, there is only about 7 inches of snow so far. :)

Probably best explain it's a joke. It took me a while to realise that kids take stuff very literally.

But at least the news would get entertaining. Nowt like footage of two rotund ladies fighting in the supermarket over the last loaf of own brand bread.

Monday morning, eleven pancakes in fridge that I made yesterday. Husband reaches for some donuts he bought at the store, reads the label, and says, wow look at all the crazy additives in here. SMH

@redstar I have a friend whose husband sounds very similar to yours. Last Christmas she gave him his own bedroom ... ;)

As soon as he officially "retires", and the business office is converted to a guest room. LOL.

I think you have just earned the award of: "Chief Scone Maker for the clanless Household"
Top job and worthy of this: :star: :dbgrtmb:
Now that is an innovative idea!!! Curious mind wishes to know: how will the obelisk stand up to the weight of those baskets when filled with compost and freshly watered?
What will you plant in there? Strawberries? Flowers? Trailing Tomatoes? Other? Love the concept :dbgrtmb:

Thanks for your kind words :blue thumb:.

I'm thinking trailing Lobelia - a pure blue in two of the baskets sandwiching a white/purple trailing variety. On that note my Lobelias have started growing already - so should be an early show this year. I'll upload a piccy of the in flower stand when ready.

In terms of stability, I'll drive the lower feet into the soil - as you say the weight of the baskets should keep it fairly stable - but this is the first go - so a bit of an experiment to see if it will stand up. The beauty is - water the top basket and the lower ones also get watered.

The obelisk was £6 from Wiklinsons and the baskets were from B&Q (£4 each) - but I notice that Wilkinsons do just the baskets without liners for £1.50 each - so quite cheap to assemble compared to purpose made basket stands.

I've seen some coir material that is purhcased by the meter - which can then be cut into liners - looks like we might be going this route to keep costs down.

Spurred on by the positive comments about the scones - I've delved into the world of savouries today - here's a couple of pic's of my beef and veg pasties- I know they may not look as uniform as the ones you can purchase in the shops - but it is my 2nd attempt at baking :dbgrtmb:.

I'm quite enjoying this baking lark..:)

I too enjoy baking. For two reasons. It is relaxing and I like eating, other than for the hot pepper breads, what I make.

I am also having fun making candy. Lollipops. Maple Fudge, Chocolate Fudge, White fudge, yum. Going to try making a mint chocolate fudge later :)
