Stormageddon - several panels from greenhouse gone  and garden arch ripped up  The honeysuckle growing over/in the arch will have to be heavily cut back to disentangle it from the arch.

Alife escaped through an open window this morning - he was outside in the driving rain for about an hour before I noticed he was missing. Found him soaking wet cowering under the horhbeam hedge. He saw me and leapt into my arms - :wow: what a moment that was :blue thumb:.

New more sturdy arch should arrive Tuesday next week - this one will be concreted in :dbgrtmb:

Pretty wild on Anglesey this morning - chimney cowl ripped off, lid on plastic storage bin ripped off, one of the garden arches damaged ( but not collapsed ), a few plants flattened and guttering loosened on flat roof. Conservatory was creaking and flexing this am - rather alarming to watch :yikes: Outside the air was full of moving objects swirling about, mostly leaves and twigs. Compared to other parts of the Island we have been lucky. At least we still have electricity. Weather has calmed considerably now, just a bit breezy.

Its probably at it's worst here now, wind wise that is.

We only had 1.5mm of rain this morning, and it's been mostly sunny periods but a bit blowy.

The Isle of Man has taken a battering today with trees and cables down, also damage to buildings.

Here we had heavy snow showers this morning which didn't manage to settle, and surprisingly it was completely windless. Most of this afternoon saw grey skies with a few patches of blue appearing later on. 2C/36F

Well it got 'really' rough between 9am & 4pm, leaving the scheduled exit of Doris by 6pm looking highly unlikely but bang on time she packed her bags, the skies cleared, wind dropped almost instantly and the temp dropped down to just 5 degrees

I had planned to go into Manchester today but, after a conversation with the people I work with, decided to cancel. I'm glad I did as the A556 and the M56 were both closed at times during the day due to downed trees and motor accidents.
The morning started off quiet enough with temperatures around 39f, wind speeds around 7-10mph, with some light rain being driven by the wind, and a pressure reading of 963hpa [which was the lowest I'd seen, but was an indicator of the coming storm]. By 1pm the winds had picked up to 15mph, gusting to 17.5, and the pressure reading had crept up to 979hpa with rain going almost horizontal in the air.
I drove to the Church, about a mile away, on the edge of the town, where my Wife rests, just to check all was well there. All the roads were covered in a mat of wind blown debris, twigs, etc, but I didn't see any trees down, although there were fence panels down. Getting out of the car proved a bit difficult because the force of the wind was directly against the drivers side of the car and the door needed all my body weight to open:hate-shocked:, closing the door was not a problem:dunno::heehee:
I took a different route going back home but the roads were all matted with debris and on going through a Housing Estate where fence panels had been broken, and one House would have found the large trampoline that had been in their garden had been blown over their 6ft fence to lie upside down on a grass bank. By then the winds had increased to an average of 23mph, with gusts up to 36mph, although the skies had brightened and the rain had turned to light showers.
Right now the winds have dropped down to around 2.5mph and less, the temperature is 40f, the pressure reading is 985hpa, with the skies only partially cloudy. The total rain recorded today was 13.8mm, to be honest, we've had worse when we haven't had a storm.
