One of my favourite films. I love the surrealism of the fight scenes, where the backing music is so totally inappropriate for the level of violence, yet somehow it works really well.

I'm thinking in particular of the scene in the club where the bride fights gazillions of baddies at once, and while severed limbs are flying everywhere the backing music is really cheesy. But alas, I can't find that scene on YouTube.

Agreed, clueless, but the music track in the fight scene "The Bride vs O-Ren is just superb...........

I love the final fight scene of Kill Bill, when the music stops and all you've got is the water feature sound and the falling snow, soo atmospheric!!

I know that you shouldn't make assumptions about people on forums but honest to god I never saw that coming!

I watched one of my all time faves - Withnail and I...........

                    I never saw that coming.

That's in the list of maybe a dozen actual good films.

I saw Withnail and I recently and didn't see what all the fuss was about. Reminded me of Fear and Loathing in Vegas but with more rain mud and sheep....

A great film that I think is still worth watching is St Louis Blues. It is a 1958 black and white film with a great cast, brilliant music a good story line and good acting.

The cast are Nat King Cole, Eartha Kitt, Cab Calloway, Ella Fitzgerald, Mahalia Jackson, Pearl Bailey and a host of other famous people of the time.

It lasts 105 minutes which was fairly long in those days.

                        Here's a 30 minute clip from it

Having recently read the Millenium trilogy (The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, The Girl Who Played With Fire and The Girl Who Kicked The Hornets Nest) I bought the Swedish films box set. I've only watched The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo so far but it is quality :dbgrtmb:

I have Kill Bill 1 & 2 on DVD. I never got round to watching them. I'm not sure if I want to or not. I recently watched a film called Evelyn. It was rather unpleasant. I'm not how you get people to act in such films. I'm guessing Kill Bill has a similar vibe.

One of my DVDs I would recommend is Last King of Scotland. It's an excellent film with a strong cast. It's especially good if you are a history fan like me.

Not so, Jack. It is a cult film and sword and gun violent, but it's fight scenes and the music that accompanies them are classic.........and there's a sense of humour running through it.
