My car is pretty rubbish, but it works (for now) and gets me from A to B, or if stupid autocorrect is to be believed, from A to Brazil.

My job doesn't pay the best salary but it pays the bills and feeds my family.

My house is modest but it's warm, dry and safe. And it contains my family.

I don't have 500+ friends on Facebook, but I have a handful of genuine good friends that I wouldn't trade for the world.

I'm not the fittest person there is but I'm OK.

When I add all of that up, it turns out I'm actually a very rich man.

Finished the Xmas "BIg Shop" today . Supermarket delivered all the heavy stuff at 8 this morning - beer , wine and spirits ( Gin is really the only one we drink ) Then off to Asda to complete the shop , Mrs H let me go off unsupervised and pick the Cranberry Jelly and a salt and pepper grinder, not allowed to pick anything else :snork:

Top of the morning to you all,as some of you know I was diagnosed with diabetes type 2 last October ,no worries just one of life's hump backed bridges;) but I do visit another forum occasionally,To dayI am thankful for the NHS and that I live in England, just thought I would post this Post from that forum;)

              ======================================
I damn near cried at the pharmacy today. I am not working at all right now as a result of being hospitalized, when I do go back to work I barely get hours and no benefits
They wanted $80 for 100 test strips, $80 for 5 pens of fast acting insulin, $115 for 5 pens of slow release insulin. Almost $300 to just stay alive, every 30 days. I have no prescription insurance, the best plan that Blue Cross have is $600 a year after a 3 month wait period (they said it wouldn't even start until summer)- in my FIRST MONTH of diabetes I'm halfway there.

I'm trying not to stress about the money right now but I'm just... disgusted at the amount of money offered. For how many millions of people contribute to Blue Cross, how many hundred thousand patients of diabetes they probably have, $600 a YEAR?

... good, old fashioned, "Customer" service
Every week I drive passed a garden centre. It's been bought out by new owners because the original place had become ramshackle, the plants had either died or taken root where they stood etc.
They had an item which I'd been hankering after for a while and thought: oooh, I'll get that!
Them: No, not in stock ...
                M: No worries
Them: ... but we'll order one for you.
                M: Ok :blue thumb:
Them: Are you in a hurry?
                M: Not especially.

Trundle off home. About one hour later, the owner phones to confirm the order but to also let me know he had checked with his other two stores with no luck so it was still a matter of waiting for an order. (No worries!)

Today, out of the blue, I get a phone call to update me that they have had a delivery but, even though my item has been delivered, it may take some time to actually locate it! Big delivery :heehee: However, if I wanted, they could try and rush through it and maybe have it in a couple of days?
No worries; take your time, I couldn't collect it until next week anyway!

How lovely to take the time to give me a courtesy call and let me know the situation! Good old fashioned customer service in action

....my patience and mellow temperament. Without which right now I'd probably be a fizzing hissing bundle of rage and fury.

Another "Customer Service" gem today (well, I heard about it today but it happened yesterday).

#1 son buys a weekly train/bus ticket for to-ing and fro-ing to work. Yesterday, after a long and stressful day, he boarded the bus and ended up doing the pocket-pat dance because he couldn't find his bus ticket. The bus driver simply said to him: "Take a moment, I'm not leaving for a minute or two. You'll find it when you're not in a panic" :)
He took a few breaths, still no ticket
Driver: "You can pay with contactless"
Son gets his card out but ... he hasn't activated contactless
No cash machines in the area
Driver: "Where are you going to?"
                        Son: "The train station"
                        So, the driver response?
"Take a seat there, lad. I have to stop in the town centre and there will be a cashpoint there you can use" :)
                        :phew: How very, very thoughtful!
Son sits down, most relieved and grateful. Takes his earphones out of his coat pocket to listen to some music and ...

... yup, you've guessed it, the bus ticket appeared in the tangled cords!

The initial reaction of the driver (take a breather) then his follow up attitude are a credit to him! Shame son never thought to get his name because I would have been writing to his company to praise his customer service
