I took advantage of the short period of Sunshine today before the clouds arrived and planted two groups of five Allium Caeruleum
    [IMG]

I managed to pot up and label 24 Allium Nectaroscordum bulgaricum

and put them into wooden boxes in the Green House to grow on. After that I mixed a bucket or two of agricultural grit and sharp sand and planted 9 Eremurus "Cleopatra" using the mixture of grit and sand as an underlying base to aid free draining. After that it was a quick amble around the garden to check the borders. The Tulips are showing leaf but nowhere near flowering and yet I spoke with my Friend in Manchester and he says his Tulips are in flower!!:dunno::doh: I could also see some red shoots of various Peonies starting to poke out of the ground which are one of my favourite plants.

I think that I'll wander around the garden, with umbrella, and see what's been happening whilst we've been away. :blue thumb:

still with my coffee. Started my Blue Poppy seeds yesterday. Hope to see babies in 5 weeks. Dry outside. Later picking up limbs /branches, some raking. Burning the wood pile.
Laying out a little more mulch.

Sat in conservatory looking out at the sodden muddy puddle that is the back garden. A couple of the resident rat population foraging and looking quite miserable, no birds. Wishing it would stop raining so that I might actually get some work done in the garden.

Until the sleet started to come down, I was doing some rose bed preparation. A bit late, but better late than never! :snork:

Did the first of my spring seed sowings in the greenhouse today.

                    In the propagator:
Tomatoes - Beefmaster and Gardener's Delight.
Sweet Peppers - Kubista and Beauty Bell.
                    Celeriac - Asterix.

Also sowed some Early Nantes carrots in a large pot, along with some spinach 'Red Kitten' and sorrel 'Red Veined' also in large pots, for spring salad leaves.

I wandered around the garden for a while and worked out how much work is needed to put everything back the way it was after having had the strong winds. That was sufficient to make me need to go and lie down :snork:.

Finished installing replacement wooden arch - used a number of heavy duty angle brackets to fix it to one of the 2m long railway sleepers - separating the front and rear terraces - come on storm (whatever) do your best!

For the first time this year - sat in the arbour - looking out at the Clwydian Range -with a cup of tea :coffee:and a home made fruit muffin - with Alfie :cat-kittyandsmiley:sat next to me. Can't think of anywhere else in the world I would rather be :blue thumb:.
