    :yikes:
With the exception of gearbox issues the rest are relatively uncommon nowadays.
Strangely BMW products in general suffer from carbon build up.

I had this with my previous Mini Cooper S, it needed a full engine rebuild which took 3 days, thank goodness for warranties!

A friend of mine has the new diesel Jag. He started to have trouble with sluggish acceleration and was told by the dealers to take it on the motorway and put his foot down hard. Apparently the catalytic converted gets clogged because under normal driving it doesn't get hot enough to burn off all the crud. So they told him to give it a hammering once a month.

A mate of mine was told similar when he had trouble with a Mondeo diesel, but that was down to a build up of stuff in the turbo, apparently.
The car was a few years old but nobody seemed to be able to cure the problem, most saying it needed a new turbo?

@HarryS I don't know. I'm not a car enthusiast and didn't even look at its badge. I don't even know which country it comes from. I'm sure some of our enthusiasts on here will know. :)

A lot of the older makes had double winged badges. My first instinct was that it's a Bristol but I've tried to blow it up on my computer and then it doesn't look quite like the old Bristol badge.

From what I can make out it has straight tops to the wings with a small oval piece sticking up on top. The lower part of the wings are slightly curved and, possibly, rippled like a bird's feathers. The bottom part has a larger, embossed, shape on it that extends up the middle of the wings.

Other British cars that come to mind that have/had double wings were Aston Martin and Austin. :noidea:

Definitely not a Bristol (I had an old one for several years).

It's most likely an Austin 10.

That was my first thought. The badge on the radiator certainly looks similar to the one Austin used pre-WW2. Having said that, two things tell me it isnt.

First, 10's had two groups of louvres on the side of the bonnet. That has one group.

Second, 10 grilles were black, and the vertical bars were closer than they appear to be on that. Also, the word "Austin" appeared in the top right (UK driver side) corner.

                    So I'm not too sure...

:yikes::wow: - I thought the problem of carbon build up was long gone - with superduper grade oils and ultra clean fuels - tut tut BMW

Not just an issue with Bee Emms but they do seem to suffer badly.
The issue with carbon build up would be much worse were it not for modern oils (and it is when the wrong oil is added). Instead it is down to a combination of ultra high gearing, too much urban use all added to the glorious emission reducing device called EGR (exhaust gas recirculation).
