Goat meat is popular in restaurants here ... but I won't eat it ... there are too many I talk to on the roadside on my travels. I know ... sad ...:frown: But sadly I do love the lamb casseroles they do here ...:love30:... I talk to them too! :noidea:

You obviously didn't watch a TV programme a while ago about one of the places that supply this stuff:biggrin::biggrin:.
The Authorities shut them down, but I bet they are still in business under a new name and different premises.

The problem was not with the goat, or any other kind of meat that went into making, it was more about how the stuff was left to hang up outside, and get all kinds of flies and whatever on it before it was sent to the outlets that also hang it up, and attract flies.

Was that the same one that was caught enlarging the meat by injecting it with extracts from pork, but still selling it as halal lamb?

I dont know, as I say it was a while ago, but if you watched what was going on you wouldn't touch the stuff with a barge pole.
Unless of course you was looking for a laxative. ;)

I do like donner meat. I know it's disgusting, but no more so than hot dogs for example. They're basically all the bits that even the dog food factory doesn't want, minced, mixed with a chemical that melts it to a liquid, stirred in a vat, then mixed with another chemical that makes it congeal into a disgusting paste, then moulded into the familiar sausage shape.

My daughter went through a phase of eating just hotdogs and chicken nuggets when she was about 7/8 ..so I showed her a video of how they were made, she soon stopped eating them!

Most of them are much better now because the good suppliers keep shopping the bad ones to Environmental Health. (Had a meeting the other week with EH, not about kebabs :) but they told me what's been going on over the last few years about kebab suppliers.)

Ah!! But that is all licenced because they follow the hygiene rules :yikes:

Are donners those big elephant leg shaped blobs, that slowly rotate with all the fat dripping off them? I can't think of anything less appetising - I only ever see them being sold late at night from roadside vans to people leaving pubs and clubs. After a few beers anything looks appealing.

Only drunk people buy them from vans. Mostly only drunk people buy them from actual takeaways but there are some half decent takeaways that are good enough for sober people. There is one such one near us. Sometimes after training I'll buy a donner kebab meant for one. It feeds the wife and I and the two kids our supper, and we still end up leaving loads. The meat is good lean protein even if it is of dubious origin, and nobody can fault limp salad and warm pitta.
