What is wrong with my plums?

The shrivelled ones could be Pocket Plum see here https://www.rhs.org.uk/Advice/Profile?PID=199

 

If you are having problems with your plums it could be down to crabs!

We've planted a Victoria Plum this year. A good size tree about five ft high with three nice branches and the leader cut out .

 

I had a problem with mine last summer and didnt get many plums,any ideas anyone please??

 

Thanks,i will invest in some provado,ive got greenfly already in the greenhouse i hope it isnt going to be another yr of them! i hardly seen ladybirds last yr :(
No idea why the leaves look covered in black mould never had a problem in 4yrs of it being planted and i had forgotton about the problem until i seen your thread earler x

 

Hi Joolz,

Looks like whitefly to me. I usually spray them with washing up liquid diluted in water.

 

@fat controller - It's awful sinking your teeth into some nice juicy plumbs to discover a maggot in your mouth!!

Look on the bright side - plums with added protein.

Joking aside, can completely empathise with you. Those pesky maggot-like catapillars from plum moths were are a nightmare one year at a previous house. It's so disappointing when you pick off a plum and straight away you know what's lurking inside as the sap-like bump on the skin gives it away... so straight in the bin

Traps or sprays... anything to stop the blighters. They are seriously annoying and devastating for crops.

 

I doubt it is that,i live 10 mins drive from the M1 in a village and 99% of the time the wind blows west to east,east midlands planes dont come this far over either,no other plants had it on them
Maybe i need to prune it,think i may neem oil spray it as well after its flowered,no idea it will help
A mobile plant doctor would be very handy some days
