Not that I'm complaining, but there used to be a fairly constant stream of new members who'd immediately arouse suspicions with their requisite number of posts to be able to post a link, consisting of various responses such as 'thank you for that', 'that's interesting', etc., etc., (when I'd bookmark them) until they'd acquired sufficient rights to post their spamming links (when I'd report them). Often there'd be another 'member' joining GC at the same time, and they'd work as a double act asking questions what is the best XYZ and the other (probably the same person) would provide a link to the product they were promoting, and they'd 'both' never be heard of again (unless you found them working the same routine on other gardening websites).

But I haven't spotted any on GC for ages now.

:dunno: Wonder if that had anything to do with the new "Home" page setup? :dunno:

We've kept the board set to Manuel Approval, the well known Spanish spam spotter, ever since the tapatalk piracy attack.

Means the staff have to check the ip address of every new member.

Easy to spot if someone's who they say they are like that, i.e. someone like Harold Saxon with an ip adress in Viet Nam is probably not the president of the local gardening club :snork:

Don't think so. They disappeared well before then. :dbgrtmb:

I think it's down to extra vigilance on behalf of our esteemed GCHQ staff who remain tucked into their cubbyholes all day long.

I blame brexit. All the spammers are keeping their heads down, holding onto their spamming credits, until they see what happens.

I always enjoyed a good old spammer. Being subtle was not one of their attributes. They would bull up whatever product they were pushing. Then find a wonderful site selling it at bargain prices  The X-hose was one of them , the hosepipe that would change your life ..

I know what you mean. That's why, at times like this, I like to drink Nestcafe. For a fuller flavour.

Is that a birder's gathering place?

CL1.2's first word was birder, but for him it meant bird.

Z1.2 first words were "when are we going down the pub dad?"

Quite worried me as he'd not spoke a word for over a year, then came out with a complete sentance :yikes:
