@silu SNOW!!!! That is crazy! Storms moved on here and has been sunny albeit a little windy.

Got outside and mrsnorky dug up the last two tree roots out the sunny border and I've been breaking the hardened soil down with a pick axe and forting in the manure. Mum is coming up at the weekend and bringing her rotorvator.

Hoping my plants harden off quickly in the coldframe....I'm desperate to get planting!!!

Spent 5 hours in the garden today ........ I really believed that 5 hours would produce visible results for my efforts. Today has been very cold with mixture of sunny spells and icy rain showers - 2 fleece's and a hat weather. All I have gained is being dirty, tired, hungry and very disillusioned :th scifD36::doh::gaah: . Apart from the new paint on the patio walls the garden doesn't look as if its been touched.

Clean and busy stuffing my face with chocolate and wine now before hubby gets home.

:grphg: I'm quite sure that whatever you did in those 5 hours will have made a difference in the longer term even if it doesn't seem so today :grphg:

That is so true, silu. I always advise people not to buy plants in bloom as they've lost the previous time of flowering, but you usually find that people will buy the plants in flower rather than those about to flower!!:dunno::snorky:

Seen someone in asda the other day pick up a bunch of cut daffodils that were already in full bloom..

Done nothing in the garden or on the plot..bloody hail/rain/sleet :( bought a musa basjoo and a canna online today though, about to buy a venus flytrap too. Looking for more hemerocallis and martagon lillies but can't find any mixed ones at decent price

You can get them in Poundstretcher/Poundland/Wilko's etc. Now is the time to get them in too - the ones I bought last year are already a good few inches of green above the soil (and yes, they are the el cheapo shop ones)

I've had to look those up because I haven't heard of those before.

Found this lovely bit of info:
                      Fascinating!

Hi @Linz - martagon are so expensive, I grew them from seed. Takes a few years, but is exciting when they first flower. I am trying to get seed of the white form too. Lilies are a bit arbitrary - sometimes the seed takes ages, then other batches come up like cress!

I divided this one several years ago and threw an unwanted division onto the Compost Heap which, unnoticed, rolled off and lay at the foot of the Heap......and has been growing there ever since.:snorky:
