The Mitsubishi is approaching its first 3 year MOT . Now that winters frosty ravages have hopefully left our window-screens frost free , I thought I'll change the wipers , which are three years old.
10 minutes on Google and I can buy a pair of Bosch Aerotwin wipers (the superb one piece wiper ) for £20 . Had a quick look at Halfords.... £38 ! No wonder the high street is failing.
Also had a Google on wiper blade life...... the recommended period is 6 months to a year ! Honestly does anyone change the blades every 6 months ? Possibly HGV's high mileage may change yearly, but 6 months :dunno:

    Wiper
blades should be replaced every six months to a year or as soon as you notice a difference in driving visibility. When wiper blades no longer make proper contact with the windshield surface, they can begin to squeak, chatter, skip, smear or streak reducing driving visibility.

Well I agree, they cost far too much for a bit of rubber that probably costs pennies to make.
I know you are probably buying the rest of the arm also.

My wipers alway smear and judder after I've been top the local hand car wash, not sure what they use on the windscreen but it takes ages to get it off and even screen wash doesn't remove it.

Have you ever changed them on your mitsubishi yet? My dear old Floella is a mitsubishi, and she is also the first and only car I've ever had wiper blades difficulties with. I had to order some from an independent trader on amazon in the end, and only because he was clear in the description that they really are the right ones for my car, unlike the wrong ones, that most suppliers incorrectly list as the right ones.

We use to change them every year, but sometimes depening on where you go you can replace them in six month ie chemical factorys and very dirty places

The car one are changed when they spilt and won't go through MoT

I have never changed a wiper blade yet. I just drive up to my local car /truck supply shop, go in tell them I need new ones. They find them, take the old off, put the new on, I pay for the new ones. And I am out of there.

@clueless1 , there are several wiper arm end designs . Hopefully mine is the HOOK , I will check tomorrow before ordering . Always carefully remove the old arm so you can repeat fitting with the replacement. It can be a tad tricky .
Have you checked your window-screen oil level ? If it gets low it could cause judder

Yeah, you do that here, some spotty kid comes out bends the bloody things, finds he's selected the wrong ones, goes back in, asks someone else, who aint got a clue.
In the end you buy what you think is right and fit them yourself, I'm talking "Halfords" of course.:lunapic 130165696578242 5:

The Toyota Corolla we recently exchanged had two wipers, when replacing them even at the Toyota dealer they were only around £25 a pair, the new Toyota Yaris has one wiper, I bet when that needs replacing it it will cost hell of a lot more than the two!!
BTW the wiper has the washer jet attached, useless as you can't put water on the screen first!

@clueless1 - juddering wipers can be caused by worn blades, but can also point to a twist in the wiper arm itself causing the blade to be sitting on the windscreen at the correct angle; more often than not, this is caused by rough handling over the years when the car is being washed etc.

EDIT - More often than not, I use wiperblades.co.uk; fast service, and I have never had an issue with them.

Indeed. But it's pete with the judder. All my bits currently work smooth, if perhaps a bit noisy.

Well wipers arrived and fitted . Wiper arm was a hook type so no problems fitting the Bosch :blue thumb: I just need a good rain storm to try them out :snorky:

Ten minutes in your local independent motor factor and they would have cost you £15. Why does everyone reach for t'interweb all the time? No wonder the "High Street" is failing!
                          Sorry, rant over.

Halfords? Not ever an option. They're just a retail rip off scheme IMHO.
