I got out the short Hedge Trimmer and the Long Pole Hedge Trimmer to prune the Cupressus "Gold Crest" which I should have pruned 4 years ago. It is planted along the bottom of the narrow central path along with a Chamaecyparis "Boulevard" and it was growing halfway over the path. So I put some plastic sheeting down and, after fixing a fuse of my cable extension, gave the Gold Crest a good hair cut. The tree had reached a height just beyond the Long Pole Hedge Trimmer, [always the case when doing a job!] so I ended up standing on the Stone Bench and finishing the job that way. That leaves the Boulevard to prune.......which is a job for tomorrow:dunno::snorky: Both Conifers are serving as Hotels for birds but the pruning has not bothered them because as soon as I had finished, and was looking at my handiwork with a mug of tea in my hand, the birds were flitting back into the Conifers.
This morning I got my 3rd to last order of plants which consisted of 9 Scabious, [3 Blue Dwarf, 3 Miss Wilmott, 3 Ochroleuca]. They came well packed and are nice quality so they are now in the Green House ready to be potted on into bigger pots tomorrow.:coffee::snorky:

IMG_0603.JPG @Scrungee so sorry I missed the photo you put up way back on this thread with the mobility scooter and caravan and had missed it:smile: I see Julian down at Burrowhayes has been busy putting in place two brand new static caravans ready for the new season:smile:

Yesterday afternoon and this afternoon for a short time I have been sitting in the conservatory (Sorry that it isn't proper outdoor gardening )potting on Cowslip seedlings that have been growing in our front lawn all winter so I asked Mr Kandy to dig some of them up so that I can grow them on for replanting into our borders later on when they are big enough:smile:

I just asked him to take a quick photo of them now he has put them outside but I do wish he had picked up the white plastic container that blew off of the conservatory window sill before he took the photo not after:rolleyespink:. He counted up 59 plants one of which is a Campanula but they are all welcome to grow for me and there are still loads more to dig up.Instead of weedkillering the front lawn that is full of moss and blimbing thistle seedlings from seeds that blow in from other people's front verges in the Lane because they are not gardeners and just leave their plants to flower and seed so we are going to replace it with nice new turf,so that too can get full of thistle seedlings:biggrin:

Back in the lounge now with my feet up:biggrin:

PS it looks a lovely sunny day out there but I didn't like the cold wind when I stood at the front door this morning so glad I am indoors in the warm:biggrin:

@Vince so sorry to read that Carol is unwell and hope that she gets better soon:grphg:

I considered going there for a couple of days when they opened for tourers/tents on the 15th(?) as that coincided with good tides for fishing, but unfortunately it didn't coincide with good enough weather for me, and as I'm rather busy with sowing and sorting other stuff out at the moment I'll probably miss the big spring tides at the end of this week, leaving me thinking of the few days before Easter, otherwise I/we probably wont be there until May when we have accommodation booked for a family holiday nearby and our daughter will probably arrange some riding there.

                Hi Kandy.

I am after some of the baskets you have your pots on, but cannot find them.

Can you please tell me where you got them from?

                Rusty

Hi @rustyroots I think we got the mushroom baskets when we have been to farm shops from time to time.We never used to use our own bags when we visited the farm shops so if we spotted these when looking for something to put the veggies in then would pick them up.I am not sure if you can pick them up at open markets that sell fruit and veggies so that might be worth checking out as they are mushroom boxes there should be lots about:smile:

Watered and fed all the pots and containers, then did my first sowings of the season in the outdoor veg plot; beetroot, radish, lettuce and spring onions all sown and watered.

I have a Market Trader friend who sell plants and he's more than glad to give some to me as they're piling up at his place. Try asking a Market Trader who selling plants at your local market and see if he/she has any they want to get rid of.:coffee::snork:

Did my winter apple pruning (yes, very late!) and also pruned the mistletoe on it...
Weeded out thousands of arum italicum pictum (I keep forgetting to take the seed heads off in time).

Cleaned pond filter and scrubbed out waterfall. Then decided to get rid of three overgrown conifers that had been planted around the waterfall. Then found some kind of waspy nest in the rockery...waspy things crawling out of holes in mud between the rocks (very weird). Cleaned up conifer mess and ready for rotorvating sunny border tomorrow.

Oh, and managed to get sunburnt!
