Filled trenches with kitchen waste compost.

            DSCI0001 (22).JPG

Then levelled with sieved garden compost.

Bridgwater beans are ready to go out, not been a frost for a week :fingers crossed:

Sowed 24 pots of giant corn (maize) and I'm not quite sure why as there's no UK competitions with a tallest corn class, no UK record for it, and even if there was I'd have to transport something probably around 20 foot long for a 100 miles or so, plus the cobs aren't fit for eating, only feeding to hens, and they need such a long growing period that there's only a small chance the seeds will be mature enough to save, even justvfor hen feed.

0 Deg C forecast next Wednesday at dawn for my nearest town, so will probably be something like -3 deg C at my plot.

Yes the forecast is hellish gardenwise I have had spuds in for about 3 weeks now and preying they don't make an appearance too soon. I have cheapo plastic cloches over the rows but not sure how much protection they will give. I do have a big roll of horticultural fleece. Maybe a good idea to put a couple of layers of that over the cloches when the forecast is for below freezing?

Still have my daughter's old swing in the garden as we couldn't get a sensible price for it years ago so I tucked it away as I thought it was worth more as materials for some future project. One like this:

                      swing.JPG

                      I've also got 2 x 10 foot x 2" dia. aerial mast tubes and a connector. I've also got a plan :ideaIPB:

A combined bean frame/sunflower support structure, 20 feet long x 8 feet high, with one leg of each A frame set vertically, other legs raised and supported by timber posts:

                      bean frame.jpg

I'm really pleased to finally get another use out of it, and it will still be capable of reverting to its original use.
