Called my car insurance company the other week, told them, because of my new position at my job I can work at home, travel less etc. they said ok, and sent me a check for $50.00. Good company.

My moan of the day is that I belong to this fantastic Gardening Forum and as you know us Owls have to do a lot of night flying and don't sleep like you humans do,and its these circumstances that cause yours truly to log on to the Wakey Wakey Forum at very early hours in the mornings, and there are never any other members around , except on occasion our friend @shiney but by 4/5am he is usually very busy working in his garden ;)

Tell that to a British Insurance Company, redstar, and they'll ask for a cheque for £50 because you've changed the terms:dunno::heehee::loll::lunapic 130165696578242 5:

Good morning @shiney and all my other friends,Woo has found something to moan about to day:heehee:

Mrs Woos car insurance(Fully Comprehensive) runs out on the 23rd May and it has gone up ,after a lengthy conversation on the phone the reason was given to me that it was because of the area that we live in is classed as an higher risk area ie if 90% of the other customers with this company have had accidents then Mrs Woos car insurance will go up,I said why should she be penalised for other peoples misfortune when nothing has changed in her details only another years no claims bonus,I don;t profess to know much about these matters, but it doesn't seem right to yours truly, thank you for listening to Woo,enjoy your day my friends:smile:

Phone around Woo, you got to get your claws in to them, even changing from being retired to being house wife make a differents
even how many miles you drive can make it cheaper 10000 miles - 5000 miles for less money

when it suits i will be a house husband then i'm a HGV driver then retired it make a differents each year but don't lie ;)

That is a shame @wiseowl . Couple weeks ago, I called mine, told them with my new job position I can work from home, ---less driving--. so they reduced it, and sent me a check for $45.00. Also as I am nearing retiring, will call again when that happens for another reduction. You have to shop around or argue with them. go for it.

I always shop around and have found in recent years that the companies that give me the best rates are usually Saga and LV. As Jiffy says, the mileage can make quite a big difference. You need to make sure that companies are quoting for similar cover and one thing that affects the premium more than most is the excess you opt for. There are two types of excess (ignoring booze and sex :snork:) compulsory and voluntary. The compulsory is what they insist upon and they try and get you to agree to a voluntary amount that would drop your premium quite a bit. You need to check that the compulsory amount isn't too high. Some of them try to make you pay the first £750 of any claim. I think that £150 - £200 should be the norm.

                          Good luck. :dbgrtmb:

Ninny! Never use a cotton bud in your ears :nonofinger:
You have most likely compacted the wax; best thing you can do is to put some olive oil into your ear. May take a few applications but it should "float" the compacted wax back up the ear canal and unblock it.
Warm the olive oil first though (e.g. pop a teaspoon into a cup of hot water so that the metal of the spoon heats up, then, add a few drops of olive oil to that same spoon and use it to put the oil into your ear; the warmed metal is enough to warm the few drops of oil).

Hope you feel better soon :grphg:
