What's looking good in April 2017

My Clematis "Miss Bateman" which is growing along my Rose "Maquerade" is just starting to open

While this is my favourite time of year for the Acer Brilliantissimum as the leaves really shine.



At last the Aquilegia are starting to flower

 

I like using large pots, putting some in permanent positions to make a mark an area while using others and "scattering" them around to break up straight lines or to add interest in a place where you can sit and contemplate the world. I usually leave them undisturbed for a couple of years and then forget what was in them, making what appears and flowers a surprise!! Anyway, I have around 60 odd of them and here's some you'll trip over when ambling around the garden.



I like texture in the surface of pots as it gives them some character. This one is full of Hostas......although it doesn't look like it!!

I like this one as it sets off the Hostas inside it nicely.

And then I use medium pots to break up straight lines....

Although we still have downy mildew on the Aquilegias we have been trying to bring in new ones - either sown ourselves or donated to us by Zigs and ARMANDII - thanks
This one has been has been sown by Mrs Shiney and is only 4" high.



The Coronilla is really getting into its stride
