Great shots! I can just imagine trying to capture those @strongylodon. Not quite the same but nearly as impossible as catching bikes at the Isle of Man T.T., which I've managed in the past with a lot of blank shots.

@roders we have the same going on in our garden at the moment.We have one pair feeding babies on the back lawn and another pair feeding babies on the front lawn as I have put out lots of small apples that came from our allotment orchard last year and are now past their best and they are loving them The single one is the front garden and the others are the back garden lot

Little Ringed Plover, unlike it's almost identical close relative the Ringed Plover, it winters in Africa and has just arrived, the Ringed Plover is resident here, strange how they differ!

 

I do some citizen science work for The River Partenership and the FreshWaterWatch. During my recent monthly sample collecting and analysing one of the Olive Mayflies emerged as an adult and flew off. Judge from the amount of fly larvae in my sample, we are going to see lots of mayflies in the coming weeks. Please keep your eyes open for the spectacular mayfly dancing.

Erysimum Bowles Mauve and Grevillea Camera Gem are full of Bees.

 

I've been taking samples for nearly a year now in our local river, the Bristol Frome. The latest sample was one of the best, possibly because recent lack of rain means there's less run off from the fields. Quantity and variety of invertebrate life was good as was water clarity. Nitrate levels are still a bit on the high side though.

 

I presume the farmers have cut their nitrate levels somewhat but not enough to stop run off into the rivers which I imagine will be higher if we have some heavy rain.
