            Been busy today!

Planted some mangetout seeds in one of the cloches, alongside the young mangetout plants, and some French beans alongside their plants. The runner beans have been planted out on the frame. I hope not too early, but at least they will be easy to protect with fleece, if we need.

A couple of plants of gypsophila planted out, along with some cosmos and poppies.

The ground was so parched, I had to water the veg bed with the hose, and top up the water feature...

Then a chum came, and between us we kept going and dug out a third bed, below the new veg bed. It will be the fruit bed, come the autumn (I think it is too late to move the raspberries and strawberries now), but I'll fill it in and let it settle down...

Just done the usual round of evening watering and pinched the tops out on the autumn sown broad beans as the blackfly have appeared.

Planted up the hanging & wall baskets, 6 in total. Looking promising. Did more watering & topped up the wildlife dishes for birds, hedgehogs, foxes, bees etc to drink from. Very important in this UK drought! Make sure you have water out in shallow dishes folks.

Woop woop its had a good rain overnight here!!!! Heard it about 1am and come down and the path is still wet! Hopefully the water butts have filled up a bit. Was going to clear out the little pond today as its gone murky despite having a little pump. Going to get some aquatic more plants too.

G`day all. No wildlife to care for today, so now I WILL go and start cleaning the filters on the pond.... not a job I enjoy, but needs must!
Spent the biggest part of yesterday demand feeding Melvin Mistle thrush and ''the twins'' - two rescued baby greenfinches. We had a blue tit and starling too, but unfortunately they didn`t make it through the night. We also had to herd a large family of ducklings off to safety away from the dogs, and next doors cats.
Very important as @Mark56 points out ---- put out clean water for the creatures!!

.....right - off to do the filters

Just got in from cleaning the pond filters....yuk @Tetters but like u say needs must!

Going to go out and buy some stuff to make a pre filter to stop it getting so clogged so quickly.

I only do my filters once a year @Snorky85 . This year there seems to be excessive blanket weed, and I`m not sure about using chemicals - it is usually the ''twiddle stick''
