      Having driven through a massive downpour on the way home yesterday it was still bone dry when we got home! They've forecast quite a bit of rain later in the week :hapydancsmil:

            Agreed. Apart from the topsoil the garden lies on over 350' of pure sand so rain just drains straight through so only years of improving and adding used compost has kept the moisture in the borders.:snorky:

                    Really lovely yesterday nice enough for a BBQ :blue thumb: Today rain rain rain... a good 12mm over the day . I managed to plant a clematis and a star jasmine in the flower beds. I was amazed how dry the soil was under the surface. The rain only seems to penetrate 3 inches or so .
