We got a lot more done in the garden yesterday despite the heat :phew:

We removed lots of branches from some of our trees. A very large Prunus was getting out of hand with lots of suckers that were making it very overcrowded on the inside. So we took off about 20 branches that were between 10ft and 20ft long and dozens of smaller ones. We did the same to some other trees and removed an ivy from one of them that had a 2" diameter trunk :rolleyespink:

More edging got done, loads of weeding, more planting in areas cleared of weeds, more Cobaea planted (put a couple on a frame in the veg plot as well :noidea:) as we had such good germination, yelled at a rabbit and warned him that the gun will come out next time he's spotted in the garden and we're still tidying and organising plants for sale. I'm taking 200 runner bean plants to the bridge club this afternoon for people who want to buy them. They've been growing like mad and some are almost knee high (not to a grasshopper :heehee:).

Not done anything in my garden yet, but have been round to a friend's, to start her veg growing career off!
Cleared and planted a herb garden, mint on one side, tile barrier (they use a lot of mint, so should be able to keep it under control). On the other side, with the soil impoverished by a trug-ful of my "sand" soil, marjoram, chives, tarragon, Basil, rocket, coriander.
The veg bed that we dug a few weeks ago has been planted with toms, cucumbers, courgettes, lettuce, mangetout peas, French beans and garlic...

Have I got the energy to do anything in my garden this afternoon?

Erm ... ... why? :dunno:  :heehee:

I've been waiting and waiting and waiting for Mr "M" to give me a hand to buy some bags of compost so I can get started with my Veg Trug (which hasn't really been put to good use since we moved here and tempus fugit!). I happened to mention that it really should be given a preservative treatment before I plant it up too. He asked which colour - I told him. While I had some calls to make, off he went out and bought the compost ... PLUS ... the wood preservative in the colour of my choice  He then made himself a cuppa and sat in the garden! :th scifD36:  So
I donned my overalls, grabbed a paint brush and off I went (never painted wooden things before but ho hum). I painted the veg trug (looks very refreshed!) and also painted a bench. While the bench was drying I filled the veg trug with compost and now ... too flipping aching to be bothered to faff around sowing seeds  :heehee: However, I do have some small, but growing, tumbling toms to transplant into the front of the trug, some spring onion and radish seeds, maybe try some chard and I'm not too sure what else I dare try at this time of year? :noidea: I'll keep my :fingers crossed: that I happen across some veggie plants for sale at ShineyLand :blue thumb:

Planted out salvia Bulleyana, sanguisorba menziesii, achillea Terracotta, agastache Heatwave to name a few. :)
Anemone Wild Swan is now flowering......it will continue right through to autumn.
A cloudier day but still enjoyed a cool swim :dancy:

More watering today, and moved some stuff to lower shelving as it is going to be extra scorchio here in the next few days.

I continued replacing any damaged or too small seedlings in the 6 cell trays which are bound for the local Gardening Club sales and Shiney's Open Day. I've still got a tray of around 150 Calendula seedlings and since I've got loads of them in trays already I've no idea of what I'm going to do with them. I've been waiting for Pavaver Picotee to open and it did today, but to my chagrin it's definitely ain't Picotee but a bright red one......it's nice but not what I thought I was buying. Papaver Place Pigalle has also flowered and that is a lovely dark ruby red......:love30::hapydancsmil::snorky:

@ARMANDII - I am intending on direct sowing calendula next week, do you think I am too late?

That picture has given me an idea for another bed for Dimitris. He already has two to choose from when he arrives , a third can't hurt :snork:

Her strengths, lucious, are in being able to go to sleep on my knee in a micro second, sitting in front of the Computer Monitor, getting her way when she wants a treat, and leaving an unladylike aroma after a visit to the Cat Litter Tray:hate-shocked::dunno::heehee:
