When I first started planting I must have put these in, I always chose a shrub that flowered/had berries, any ideas what any of them are please.

Sorry, I'm not confident enough to offer suggestions. Hopefully someone will be able to soon.

Thank you Tetters, I'm rubbish with plant names, all I looked at was if it had a flower/berry, I never thought I would like gardening, it was a chore at the time, now a pleasure.

Silver surfer has suggested Escallonia Martin. If you crush a couple of leaves they will have a citrus smell to them. There was 80ft of Escallonia hedging in my last garden and I'm not sure your leaves are the same either, the veins in them look different to me.

                        2. Is definitely not Rodgersia.
Rodgersia have huge leaves ..a long stalk with several leaflets at the top. See...

                        4. With a single big flower bud I am 99.9% sure it is not Osmanthus.
Osmanthus are evergreen with leathery small leaves...and small white flowers

Going back to progagating days, I think that the Osmanthus ''burkwoodii'' and ''delavayi'' had small glossy leaves, whereas the O. ''heterophyllus'' had holly shaped leaves. O. ''fragrans'' (I think it was) had larger leaves
I have found several different varieties of Rodgersia lately. Although we only dealt with shrubs, climber and grasses at the nursery, I have ventured out a bit further more recently, and have found huge Rodgersias with big palmate leaves, and smaller varieties with pinnate leaves.

There is no doubt in my mind that the shrub with the lonicera pics is indeed an Escallonia. It will be interesting to see what colour the flowers are. We propagated several varieties of this shrub - which incidentally is lovely as a flowering hedge.
