Wow belgian lattice espalier looks fantastic!

 

Went to pick up some horse muck first thing, from a guy on freecycle. Bagged and loaded 27 bags. Got a bit of a sweat on. Put 2 huge bags into one of the greenhouse border and dug in. Then built a cucumber trellis from scrap timber and heras fencing. Fixed it into greenhouse and planted cucumbers.

Had a cleanup and watered plants.

Not a lot because I was out and about for much of the day and by the time I got back ... it was 'ot!

Delighted to report the radish seeds I sowed a few days ago were pushing up the compost in the VegTrug (VT) this morning and by evening had almost doubled in size! Tomorrow will the "thinning out" time.

While out and about today, I picked up some netting for the VT and then spent an hour playing a game of "Houdini Origami" trying to put it up to cover the VT Succeeded in the end, but not without a few choice words spoken (which should never be spoken in daylight hours and even less by the female of the species! ) I lay the blame on the influence of certain GC members yesterday

On that note, I potted up an Impo thingy wotsit so I can plant it on some hard standing next to my arbor and placed other purchases in selective places No doubt tomorrow it will be all change for them once again, but, eventually they will find a permanent place of safety which will give them their best chance of survival

Picked up some mixed cut-and-come-again lettuce seeds (3 for £1) so I shouldn't have to buy salad greens again this year! Poundland offer Also snagged some tomato fertilizer while I was there.

That was enough for one (very) hot day!

 

Cloudy and misty, warmish but no gardening for me except to check on how various plants are performing.
Excited to see Spigelias, crinums, hymenocallis, leonotis and trachelospermum growing fast now. Several new plants are calling me to inspect them too Every day something new has started to flower so I have to....have to....have a nosey!

Mum visited today and we ended up going to bucks garden centre again.

Was going to buy a planted up aquatic basket but thought i could do my own. Bought a basket for 2.49 and aquatic soil for 3.99 and used some water plants that were groing in the garden...

Took a chunk of a plant from the communal pond area (which i thought was a weed but they were selling them as aquatic plants at the gc)

And split a pond grass i already had!

Made this....

And saved myself £20

Melons liked the heat though

Bear in mind they are from the same sowing as the ones I had at Shiney's

Rescue cacti liked it too

 

They go great in a thai green curry!
