Just to prove that I don't always get to work on lovely antique windows...here's a 1930's metal casement that the owner says still has plenty of life in it...but the tenant doesn't agree :D Good news is that I'm at Hidcote Manor gardens on Monday to work on a very special pair of buildings:WINK1:
"Its had some of the newness worn off it Madam." Works work Nick, i've had jobs where i've gone round to do some carpentry & ended up removing a virus from the clients computer or changing a washer. Had to defrost the clients freezer oneday, got there to find the door jammed open & water dripping all over the kitchen floor. Couldn't really ignore it:DOH:
Back at the barn conversion some serious glass is going in....six blokes help plonk this sucker in place
Hidcote Manor & Gardens in Gloucestershire today. Working on the two famous Gazebos.....Refurbed and new doors.. And my contract is to refurbish the metal casements...a job I did once before in 1992...my how time flies!
I would have thought that too Nick, its the thinness that threw me. The stone shingles I have seen have been much thicker. Anyway, that aside, lovely job again Off to North Devon tommorow, sorting out an 1880s building that was bodged up to sell:DOH:
A change of trades today...I have to be 'chauffeur ,gofer' for my Son as he is recovering from a ruptured Achilles tendon. It's really enjoyable work and we get to travel a lot...just like old times when I had my Glazing business. We're off down to East Knoyle tomorrow....anyone live close by?
Sympathies with the tendon:( Still struggling with injured feet meself. Yep, i;m near East Knoyle but off to North Devon again tommorow:DOH:
That's a pity Zig,but we were so busy there was no time for tea and biscuits:D First East Knoyle then down to Shute in Dorset and Chard...I'm pooped:(...At least the lad is earning a crust and I get to drive over a few memories This babe drives a dream!
Back to reality with the glazing side and having to decorate the doors in this converted stable block And no,it's not a holiday flat,it's a Gym Guess how much the equipment cost....not a sausage!! Give away from an upgrade....money to money
