:yikes: @Upsydaisy No, you can't! Work in progress:wallbanging::wallbanging: and I can't never make it tidy. Just weeded the patch for an hour. Bought a Nora Barlow Black and a red double. Nearly £6.. Went to B&Q and got another spider flower for £1.50, one nerine for £1.50 and one dahlia for the same price. Shame I didn't go yesterday, all the dahlias have disappeared.

Nice work, @fat controller I followed your instruction and instructed my son to sort out the HD setting. Wonder if you can see any difference

Looking pretty good to me @alp - colour is vastly improved! To be honest, that is about as good as I would expect to see from a camcorder; if you really want to improve on what you have, I would say you need to be looking at a good stills camera.

Agree @fat controller A bit of a washout. Also the sun was not out and that didn't help. Going to have a cuppa and then out to work again. See you later..

What a splendid show shiney, I think one of mine has downy mildew, it's failing to flower properly & the leaves are fading to white :noidea:

The plant you've forgotten the name to is a Dianthus , it's one of the " Rainbow Loveliness " series. Hardy perennials easily grown from seed.

Lawns can enhance the planting in the beds if done carefully. :dbgrtmb:

Thanks @shiney - I am considering putting the log roll edging around the entire lawn, as every year we have to 're-claim' the borders as the grass creeps its way outward. I think part of the problem is that our grass actually sits lower than the borders, so keeping an edge to the grass isn't that easy; this is also not helped by the fact that all the surrounding gardens are a wee bit higher which seems to result in ours being the wettest at times.

Lovely planting shiney :)..like you I feel a lawn sets up everything else esp when it looks as good as yours does:yay:
My 6' plus delphiniums were smashed by the heavy rain and wind....however, more (undamaged)!spikes are on their way. No lupins damaged despite one or two being 4'.
Not a nice day but clearing now......

@KFF Someone actually gave me the Latin name, but I didn't bother to write it down. I raised it from seeds and love it as it is quite different from the ordinary dianthus and it is very reliable and not fussy. Still in the same pot from last year. Hasn't died on me yet.

The trouble with my lawn is that it is not level. Last year, it took 3 days for the flood to subside in the May downpour. My other two neighbours with the same style of house have levelled lawn. This one is a nightmare. And when I dug the border to improve on the clay soil, I found tons of slabs and subbase buried on what used to be the lawn.

I'm not going to drag this thread too much off subject with photograpy, but in fact I let my eye and mind tell me what's a good shot and just basically point and shoot while keeping an eye on shutter speed. But whatever method is used if it works for the person taking the shot then that's the one to use.:love30::thumbsup:

@longk Just love all your photos, especially that one with the flash .. beautiful, like a sweet dream. So many lovely details. I must go and fashion a black card. @shiney that poppy is gorgeous. All my cameras can do it to click.. and that's it. I must invest in a new camera, among many other things.

I blame you guys for putting the seed of need in me! Hehe!
