@Kandy I have a dishwasher which pleases me no end. Whenever I wash something such as vegs and rice, I use a flexitib in my sink to catch the water, just as you do! Every bit counts. Whenever we have our shower, we use the same flexitub to catch the shower water as well. Once or twice, the water was so warm that it evaporated in steam in the front border during winter. I knew I was a bit naughty!:rasp:

The flexitub has to be hidden when we have important guests..

The horrible thing is that my legs are not what they used to be and I have to lug that flexitub downstairs and it is not funny.. As for fat, I put it in my compost bin.. probably explains why the slugs (I make sure it is correctly typed this time!) are so fat ..

I mowed the lawns without breaking into a sweat, which is a first for me.

@alp I wouldn't put fat in the compost bin, it could atrack rats. Keep it for the birds. Make bird cake by adding oats, seeds, nuts and some flour to bind it together. Put in fridge until cold. It will be soft but you can spoon it onto the bird table or a dish.:doggieshmooze:

@Upsydaisy we went over to our allotment on Saturday to water all our stuff which I did while Mr Kandy got on with the weeding. After a couple of hours I was ready to go home as my feet were killing me but Mr Kandy said he wanted to get the last bit of his row weeded so it was another hour before we set off for home.By the time we got back both my feet were really sore so much so that Mr Kandy had to get half the dinner sorted as I could hardly walk with the pain.I got it in the oven and the veggies switched on so all he had to do was dish it up:biggrin:

@alp I have thought about trying to save the shower water but to be honest with my arthritic feet etc it would be awkward for me to try and lug buckets up and down the stairs full of water and I don't think Mr Kandy would be keen on doing it for me.It would have been ok when we lived in the bungalow but not now we have an upstairs.

The Council here are rather funny what goes in our recycling bins and if we put the wrong thing in they put a warning notice on the handle of the bins so we have to get it just right. The only thing that goes in our grey bin is rose prunings, holly leaves and any branches that get taken off of the trees as we can't be bothered lugging all that stuff over to the lottie any more.We compost everything else and that gets spread round the garden or on the plots:biggrin:

Sorry that you have problems with your legs,I know the feeling very well now that I am getting :old:. :grphg: to you:smile:

OK, next time I will make some fat balls for birds. I have seen 4 little blue tits jumping around my hanging baskets and I saw a parent tits feeding a young one as well. The tubeful of bird foods have all been finished. Can't blame them. The young eat tons of food.

@Upsydaisy You've got a grey bin! Oh, dear! The country is ghettoised by all the bins and crates. They should just employ people to sort them out. We have black bin, orange bits and if you want a green bin. Grey bin .. ? That really is a bit too many. I recycle everything as well. Need to mulch the helleborus before 25C hits us ..

We've got 2 Wheely bins, green and grey. 1 gets emptied one week and the other the next week.

Please could we add education to that list of four? No, I don't mean scraping student loans I mean, simply investing in the state education we already have.
                  Thank you :)
So: when will I see your name on my ballot paper?

@"M" This is a great country on education. The trouble is some parents' attitude. You surely won't be one of them. I have heard people saying that they would take their children off for holiday whenever they liked. We have to pay for our books even in primary schools. Here, the exam board will provide you with a brand new anthology just for an exam. How daff is that? We had to learn what we wanted to quote by rote. My literature teacher said to us that if we couldn't write up to 4 pages on one question, he would fail us on that whole question. When I had a book sale, it was only the Indian, or even coloured people who were interested in buying books whilst the computer game sellers were doing a roaring trade. Very strange that some parents, not all, do not pay emphasis on their kids' education. My neighbours even had run-in with the community police in their twins' school.

My friend's son went to the US for a year and he complained that his mom did not push them enough. He said all the undergraduates there could one one fluent foreign language. My poor friend who has always been a very good mother .. in my opinion.. She would take them to sports even though she had no car .. and there are 3 of them and we do not exactly live in London where everything can be reached by bus or tube ..

Gorgeous apricoty colour. The whole day has been very cold. I was trying to knock out a raised bed. I never knew that there were so many different but similar nail heads, making screwing them impossible.
