:wow: Out in the garden just now, I was 'buzzed' by a stag beetle.

It actually hovered in front of my face for several seconds, flew round my head a couple of times and then flew slowly down the garden, still at head height, with me following it.

I think this is probably the first time I've ever seen a stag beetle actually in flight. I've seen them on the ground before, as we're lucky enough to live in something of a stag beetle 'hotspot' here in Suffolk.

The sight and sound of this magnificent creature, buzzing literally right in front of my face was simply unforgettable - a real 'wow' moment.

Didn't have the camera with me of course, would have made one hell of a photo.

Neighbours must have thought I was bonkers, wandering up and down the garden, apparently gazing intently at nothing right in front of me. :heehee:

T3.jpg T2.jpg T1.jpg My little 'hide' and constructed bird perch is giving me so much pleasure. It's a waiting game but loving the anticipation. Just a few from earlier.

This little beauty spent quite some time drinking his fill of nectar from my lemon thyme ...

We haven't seen any sign of Cabbage White butterflies either this year Jiffy and we also have a lot of blackfly on plants but not many ladybirds this year, although I have found plenty of their larvae about,so I quickly transfer them onto the plants with blackfly but they must be full up as they haven't touched any of the blackfly:sad:
