Yesterday I repaired a leaking bird bath the one on the planter and plugged the hole on a old Belfast sink,

My main bird bath gets a lot of use and soon gets messed up and empty, most of the time I'm around to attend to it, they have a choice of three now :).

      Well here in London

      Yesterday: skorchio!*
      Today: skorchio!
      Tomorrow will also be: skorchio!

So gardening has been confined to a little deadheading, rather more watering and constructing a small tent from bamboo canes and an old net curtain to shelter some newly planted London Pride

I just wandered out onto the patio, felt my feet burning and the stifling heat, and turned tail and headed back into the pleasures of air-con. Sod the garden until it is cooler :snork:

Been rather busy, removed some beetroot and onions which have got to seed. Sowed some veg carrots purple haze - swede and some turnips. Biennials sown wallflower etc in the very hot greenhouse . Watering everything had sprinkler on the lawn this morning so I can cut it latter when it cools down. Got a bit of a headache now most be the heat, I sure the rhubarb crumble I've just made will cure it.

Think I might be late here..didn't have enough room until I got the second plot so planted out 3 different types of lsummer cabbage , broccoli and swede.. was seriously hot today, 36c?(not sure what that is in other money, 100f?) carted a load of stones from that plot to my main one and filled a path, planted 2 dahlias, 2 very weedy looking daylillies, dianthus and antirrhinum in a patch by the poly tunnel, carted more stone over and called it quits, way too hot and now have a bad head

Thanks for the info. :dbgrtmb: now that I'm back I shall check the cowslips in the wild area at the bottom of the garden. Once I've collected the seeds (hope they're ready :fingers crossed:) I can cut back the area (avoiding the bee orchids) as the grass is knee high and seeding. I don't want the grass seed settling into the veg plot.

Got back, yesterday lunchtime, from a very good week in the Lake District. I put sprinkler on the veggies and Mrs Shiney spent two hours watering the greenhouse and pot plants with the hose. Only two plants were a bit droopy as we have friends coming in every day to do the watering. Also someone comes in to fill the bird feeders. We're very fortunate in having volunteer friends for when we're away :dbgrtmb: :love30:

                              96.8F :blue thumb:

Mrs Shiney also had a lot of potting up to do from cuttings taken whilst away.

Like @fat controller I kept out of the sun and in the aircon. and tried to catch up on emails and snail mail.

Moved sprinkler to front garden at 4.30 a.m. I'll move the sprinkler in a couple of hours and should have finished the beds in the front garden by tomorrow evening. :phew: Back garden beds will take another couple of days - at least!

I'll go on patrol out there this afternoon to check on what needs doing and may pull a few weeds out (teaching this morning so will have to try and brave the heat this afternoon :noidea:). Of course, I may just sit in the cool indoors. :snork:

Very warm already as I walked to the beach earlier. Cool air from the sea was refreshing.:)
Forecast to be 24 or so here but 29 just a couple of miles inland. Even hotter "up country" :rasp:
Busy thinking of garden jobs today.....think I will copy James and grab a couple of ciders instead :Wino:
