Good evening everyone...for the second year running my Honeysuckles have dropped their flowers a few days after blooming, the flowers are small and a rusty colour, so does anyone know what could be the cause?

If anyone has an answer to why this is happening it would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

    Sheps...:)

I think it is too dry. Most honeysuckles like fair to moderate moisture. It has been hot too making the situation worse
I always supplementary water as well as an annual thick mulch in early spring. :)

Hi Verdun...all 3 are watered every day, and the soil is always damp and never dries out because all 3 plants are in almost constant shade. Maybe it could be down to the constant shade or lack of any direct sunlight?

Watered every day Sheps.....are they in pots?
Apart from being in pots nothing in the ground should be watered every day???
Constant shade for most honeysuckles and permanently damp soil isnt great so maybe you are OVER watering Sheps?

I must admit, Sheps, the 6 Honeysuckle, of different varieties, on the sides of my Arbour

have dropped their flowers quite quickly this year and it was so quick that it was noticeable. I don't water my Honeysuckle regularly and only feed the two roses on either side 2 or 3 times before they flower. I think the flower drop might be due to the excessive heat and humidity as Honeysuckle are natural fringe of the Woods growers and like light shade if they can get it.

Thanks for the help and advice guys, it's appreciated :blue thumb:

Hi Verdun...the Honeysuckle are planted in raised beds which are about 6ft x 2ft x 2ft and to be honest the plants are thriving, putting on more new growth than I could cope with, leading to numerous sessions with the secateurs. When I say watered everyday, by that I mean a good soak once a week and then daily sprinkles just to keep the soil moist to deter the pooping cats.

Hi ARMANDII...let's hope it is just down to the recent mini heatwave.
