We've got a lot done this week. Mrs Shiney has been taking cuttings, repotting, potting on, splitting and generally producing more and bigger plants. The continuing battle with weeds is - continuing! :snorky:

The grass seems to need mowing every five hours :doh:and the bees are making it very difficult. I need someone like @Sandy Ground to invent and make a bee catcher for the front of the mower. We have lots of clover, which I'm happy to leave growing, throughout the lawns. The bees love it but they don't seem to have the sense to feel/hear the mower approaching. In theory they are supposed to not go on the clover in the early morning or in the evening. Nobody seems to have told our bees that! So, in the area of the thickest clover I have to mow using one hand to guide the mower, the other hand to wave a 7ft cane just in front of the mower and hold the drive bar with my chest in order to keep the mower moving. I don't feel guilty about mowing down the clover flowers because they get replaced by new ones within a few hours.

Winding up the runner beans is a daily job and some of them have now reached 11ft. The flowers are beginning to set nicely now :blue thumb:. Courgette picking is a daily event and raspberries are nearly finished as is the pea! Sarafi the cat has eaten the peas from the last remaining plant. Actually, the rabbit ate them but Sarafi then ate the rabbit :noidea:

I did my weekly bindweed, mares tail and goose grass patrol yesterday evening. Digging out bracken is the first order of the day today.

Safari sounds a crafty cat......the peas and the rabbit! :yay:
There seems to be no shortage of bees down here.......the Cornish bee perhaps? Reportedly it may help solve the dwindling bee population

@Sandy Ground I imagine it would look like a small brush attachment, the width of the mower, that fixes to the front of the mower, between the wheels and about 2" above ground level. Ideally it would also wiggle from side to side but that would require it to be fixed to something that would move it. Whereas a static one would be sufficient.

I suppose that the best thing would be of the mower was built with a tubing that went across the front of the machine that blew air out. The motor would then be able to run a small air pump.

Just checking the Runners and found these unusual verigated leaves.

As it happens, I've been thinking of something similar for my mower. Not only to protect the bees, but also to move plants out of harms way. Sounds like a good topic!

That's interesting because two years ago, on one of my Oz walks, I noted that bees appeared to be using the clover as a place to "sleep" over night.

                        Ok

                        That's kind!

Erm ... ... so, to round up here: you want @Sandy Ground to "invent" something which you have already mentally "invented" :dunno:
Why not cut out the middle man and say: "Oi, mate! This is my idea and can you reproduce/manufacture it?" :lunapic 130165696578242 5:

Did our invite get lost in the post? :dunno:  :heehee:

Are you still sowing peas outside for cropping? I was wondering if it was too late to put another line of mangetout peas in....

The greenhouse toms have grown beyond their supports, so today I ran twine to the peak of the greenhouse to support them while they continue to grow. I just could not bring myself to top them off. :nonofinger:
