Good morning to a cold Essex, a bit overcast. Perfect weather for gardening.
Agree with @zenj Don't think Murray will win this time. He seems to have been plagued by injuries. If he couldn't win, I would love Federer to win. Not so keen on Nadal!

 

Morning all, how is everyone?

Won't contribute the tennis talk, I'm afraid to say I find it a tad boring to watch. The only time I have watched any was when I was pregnant with our first born, I only had a week or so to go ( his birthday is next week) and I couldn't do much else in the summer heat at that time.I know of people that get completely hooked on it and spend most of their day in front of the TV!!!

Use to love actually playing it though, sadly my joints are not at all willing to allow it anymore.

Grey start here but I think we are in for a good day, so will undoubtedly find lots to do in the garden to keep me out of mischief

Have a Supercalifragilistic Saturday ( not too sure of the spelling....but you know the word I mean!)

 

I must get some more horse manure today when the weather is cool and cloudy. When I looked at @Verdun's spider lily, I realised that I should invest some money in nematodes as his lilies are perfect whilst mine has been devoured by slugs and they were perfect for a day. Now there is nothing left of the two flowers... Too many things to do...

 

For the spider lily, I am pretty (?) sure it's the slugs. Elena double lilies have numerous holes and no leaves in some stems have definitely been ruined by lily beetles as I have actually caught them in flagrant act.

 

Would love to see Murray win but he wont. Federer will do it again for sure
Hello everyone....it is a beautiful morning.
A stroll to the beach in the sunshine again earlier and, hopefully, get rid of the weeds that the rain encouraged. And get grass cut. Delphiniums are mostly in full flower again.....such good value if deadheaded early. I usually get 3 "flowerings"

Love delphiniums and I am going to invest in some taller ones. The compact ones I have since last year have pleased me no ends.. My £1 salvia amistads have come up with lovely green leaves after my brutal chops and the cuttings have taken. Boy, don't you just love plants like that .. responsive, robust and regal .. Had to go with these gifs as the others make me jumpy, nervous even!

 

Here's my wallflowers on top of my little greenhouse.192 did sow 226 but 34 didn't come up.

 

@Verdun .. that's my main enjoyable summer past- time... deadheading!

I find myself getting surprisingly annoyed at seeing plants wasting away in gardens when out and about.....I have to fight the urge to nip off spent blooms as I pass by.

I deadhead everything and it is soooooooo worthwhile, like you I am often rewarded with numerous re- bloomings.

Think alp is right...slugs n snails are the main pest of spider lilies. I put a sign up though..."no slugs please" and they have kindly obliged :rasp:
(Mind you the odd pellet helps too......literally half a dozen or so; I feel used very sparingly and judiciously (under slate etc) they are more effective than a mass of them)
