Noisy cicadas in Olive trees in Crete.
You wouldn't believe how noisy they are and you can never actually see one.

 Oh yes I can, music to my ears when the temp hits 30c but at least they go to sleep at night. :snooze:

They hop around our garden ... here's one sitting on my hand ...

                          How can you tell?

I calculated that we had over ten thousand of them in the veg plot yesterday morning. We were able to count over 50 of them on one spike, most of the spikes looked similar and we have over 200 spikes. That's without the other plants they were on.

Eyes are further apart than males :)

They'll be eating lots of pests then :)

DSC_5501.jpg Well, today my recently discussed bird perch come feeding station produced a completely new opertunity this afternoon.
So there I was balanced on the top step of our old step ladder, while playing with camera settings, as this one sat there for me and is the first I've ever seen in the garden. Managed to get loads of pics without falling off!
