Evening Primrose we gots lots of them
Last night Miss Jiff found a bit broken off, so we put it in some water and theni thought i get the action camera and do a time lasps picture of the flower opening, the pic wasn't to bad (needed more light) but it's nice to see it in slow motion

 

Just the one John? If it's allowed to seed, just wait until next year.

Got them here too, they are very prolific self seeders.

 

John your plant May of come from any bird seed if your sister feeds the birds or else the birds might have deposited the seed.These flowers have a beautiful scent and are supposed to flower of an evening hence their name but as you have noticed they do tend to flower during the day as well

I think each flower only lasts a day but the bees love them and if your sister lets the pods dry off,then in the winter she might be lucky to have Goldfinches feed on the seed.

 

They tend to grow on roundabouts here.
Oh and my allotment is infested, but it is not really a difficult weed to cope with.

 

Just a few weeks ago I *weeded* one of my borders ... then realised I was pulling up Evening Primrose seedlings. I hurriedly potted on the ones I'd pulled up

Need not have worried ... plenty have survived my attempts at a massacre I like them!

 

I like'm and so does Miss Jiff, the flower open in the evening, the last count 187 plants
