Just begun appearing ...

I'm working on it now @"M" - no idea currently what has gone wrong, but rest assured I will either bring them back or replace them with suitable replacements.

 

Not had a problem but I had started another thread noting that one of the laughing smilies had disappeared. It's the one that is usually third one in, top left row.

 

I've had to disable the affected ones for the time being @shiney, whilst I work on a suitable fix

@Scrungee - that one looks like a local security settings issue and definitely not linked to the smiley issue

The image in post 2 that @"M" posted has appeared all down the screen, in between other items, when Mrs Shiney went onto a page on ebay to view a product. They disappeared when she clicked to send the seller a message and was put through to a different page.

Does that happen to be a different sort of problem from the one that GC is having? Or is it related? It didn't interfere with what she was doing apart from making the page longer as there were about ten images the size that is shown in post 2.

 

It is likely to be related - that particular host was taken over by a new company a year or so ago, and have become VERY greedy. Any image that is 'hotlinked' is an excuse for them to try and extort money from someone, but I ain't playing.

We have a great community here on GC, and all of the Admin team are hell-bent that we keep things running at their absolute best without costing anyone any money. As you know @shiney, the Scots are a very generous race, but we are only able to be so generous because we know how to be frugal

 

I'll take a look @Sheal - it could well be that this is still a spreading problem. I find it rather odd that an image hosting company don't want to allow their users to host images (unless they pay a fortune).....

 

Think I have bodged a fix for it @Sheal - not ideal, admittedly, but better than the huge image.
