2017 Tomato Growing

I've got my first Bloody Butcher just ripe now and Black Trifele starting to turn yellow in the (unheated, shaded) GH.

 

The flowers aren't very big on my Bulgarian toms (I've never had a megabloom on them), but they are a good size on my Hungarian giants

My are growing strong and healthy, just hope the truss sizes start increasing. The plants are vigorous as Sweet Million, Sungold, Majik Mountain, Suncherry, etc.

Starting to get quite a few megablooms on the beefsteak toms I'm growing for heavy tomatoes






And some of my beefsteak tomato plants (just a few cherry toms at the very front). I'm very pleased with how they're growing this year, hope I got the compost & feed right and changing the border soil plus addition of Mycorrhizal Fungi appears to be helping. They were planted out in that border 6 weeks ago.

So I have 15 gardeners delight in the greenhouse - far too many for a 6x8 space and they are going wild... I also have some in various pots and planters around the garden - mainly because I used last years growbags to fill pots for garlic, basil and various other things, and now they all have tomatoes growing out of them as well... anyway, the 20+ plants that are outdoors will have to fend for themselves while I'm away for a week... but the greenhouse ones will frazzle... so,
watering systems? Neighbours not really reliable and no relatives for 200 miles... a timer and a leaky hose? Suggestions? Ideas? Open to all and any

 

The plants are in five gro-bags arranged in a U shape (one at the top, two down each side...) - would a lawn sprinkler on a timer work? Although the leaky hose thing was a little tongue in cheek, a pierced hose on a timer anchored with tent peg type things into the bags may work... low pressure on the tap... hmm... as long as, as you say, the last guy in the loop gets enough, or whether it will all be gone before it reaches the last plant.. I'll have a play...

 

Yeah, was thinking I would have to hood the jets - it can't go on the leaves - they will get too heavy... I just tried a thing with the hose - looks encouraging with three holes... lets see what it's like with 15... but that will be tomorrow :D

 

Mine look an absolute mess.. however, I do have toms!
