I was at a loss as there was no Post Reply box, then I was told that I had to sign in again. A very bright day, going to be hot as it's only 7pm and there's already heat in the air.. Have a wonderful Wednesday.

          Good morning,

          I definitely agree. :blue thumb:

We only buy presents for kids - and give money for engagements and weddings. Birthdays, and anniversaries get cards, Christmas gets nothing.

We stopped sending/giving Christmas cards over 20 years ago when we found that we were receiving about 300 cards each year and sending about 200!!! One Christmas we sent a message, inside the card, saying we had decided to stop sending cards and would be giving the money we usually spent on cards to charity. We asked them not to send us cards and to also give the money to charity. So, from that year we gave a local charity £200 and have increased the amount by £5 per year. The charities we pick are those that do work locally for people at Christmas and New Year.

Our son got to an age when he said he didn't want presents. We don't buy each other any as well.

I have only got the one. I will spoil him, which is rather rare, when I have money, which is extremely rares still!

You'll get used to threads being closed and restarted as a new thread. Otherwise the forum starts to slow down. :)

That could also have been as a result of me tinkering about under the GC bonnet last night, as I had to purge and rebuild various caches (short term memory, for want of a better description)

Morning everyone, how are you all?

Phew!.....so glad some of you agree with me...thought after I posted yesterday that you must all think us a tight pair of grumpy meanies!! We're not.. honestly:biggrin:

When our kids were young they were encouraged to make cards for certain family members....many of which are still kept safely today and cherished. My son recently said ,when phoning up on Mother's Day, 'I knew it would be much nicer to call you in person and have a chat rather than send a ready made card with someone else's sentiments written inside'......I was so very pleased to hear these wise and sensible words!
However I do always send cards and buy a little ( special treat type) pressie for my elderly dad...that will never change!
I have thought recently about taking up the hobby of making my own cards for certain family members and friends.....that will be a winter task!

I had trouble last night logging on after I found this new thread....forgot my password!!

Suppose to be a gorgeous day to today ,so an enjoyable day in the garden is in store for us.Hopefully my gardening magazine will arrive today, it's seems to have gone astray this week! and then I'll have something nice to read in the shade!

                      Have a Wonderful Wednesday everyone!

@shiney It's OK. We know the difficulty of having long threads..

                        No egos here.

Oops, in Chrome, I could only upload one pic.. Nah, I'm using e now and hey, presto, more pics can be loaded. I think dementia has set in, so if I repeat my pics, please bear with me.

It's like what Griff Rhys Jones says, the joy of gardening is when you turn a corner and suddenly see something has blossomed or grown HUGE! I have forgotten about this one altogether, all in the process of killing most of my plants in POTS!
